This "friend" is about 11 years younger than me, and I feel like she is always trying to "out do" me. She asks me for advice alot, and I will give it to her, and then she will call me up the next day and say, guess what I decided to do, like it was her idea to begin with. Or I will buy a plant for my yard, and she will ask me what it is, and then she will go out and buy the same exact thing, and say, look what I just bought isn't this cool, do you know what it is? . She also tries to look like me. When I first met her she had short brown hair. Now she has bleached her hair blonde, (I'm a natural blonde), and she said she is going to grow it out long so she can look like me. She wants me to do her makeup just like mine, and always telling me how perfect, she, her house, her kids, are and other stuff. She watches everything out her window that I do and then she calls me and asks me what I was doing outside, where I went when I left, what I bought, I feel like I am being watched.

Obviously, she is not a secure with herself as she tries to profess.

They say imitation is the best form of flattery, but it sounds to me like hers is bordering on creepy.

Try and be honest yet supportive with her. When she asks what type of plant, tell her "Lets change it up a bit, let me help you pick out something new for your yard". Or, tell her that you like her hair better the natural color and go through magazines to pick out a new different style.

If she can't back off, or doesn't take the hint, then just be busy when she calls and remove the tags from your plants.

Good luck.

Maybe she has the hots for u and is telling u how beautiful and perfect she is in the hope that u will notice and be impressed. If she doesnt have the hots for u maybe she just admires u.If this is the case it is flattering but after a while a little annoying. If it is none of the above u may have a case of 'single white female'.If it bothers u that much talk to her about it.Maybe she hasnt had any good role models in life and she has chosen u to be hers. If u were a ***** u could buy/ get nastry ugly stuff so eventually her house, cupboard, car will be filled with it. Otherwise maybe u could go out together shopping one day and suggest that she make her own decision as to what she may purchase. eithger way communication is the key to any good relationship so just talk to her and tell her that her copying and competition is getting annoying and borring. She obviously has nothing better to do than be in competition with u so maybe u could suggest a hobby she could take up

She sounds like a lunatic. Start doing some really gross stuff for a while and see if she copies that. Tell he you've decided you aren't going to shave your legs or armpits anymore and it's the newest fashion. Only around her start wearing really crazy outfits and hairstyles. Maybe even get a funny wig and some outrageous shoes. That'll get her.

she has low self esteem and wants to copy you. she's definitely competing with you. she feels that she has to be better than you so that you can feel bad about yourself. the feeling of her being better than someone makes her feel superior than you. why don't you stop helping this friend??? why not be blunt with her??? if you came up with an idea and she takes it and claims that its her own, why not call her out??? if you start telling her that she copied you and stuff she'll feel that her little "plan" isn't working and that you know exactly what she's doing. if she asks you what you were doing while looking out the window simply say "are you stalking me now?" there are ways to get your feelings across to her!!!!

Sounds more like a little sister to me. She totally thinks you are perfect, that's why she talks like she is, to impress you. Consider it flattery. Although it tends to get annoying, but it must be nice that someone thinks that highly of you, to go out of her way to imitate and try to impress you.

It is sad, she may not really feel that she is pretty so she keeps talking about it waiting for other to tell her that she is. Maybe tell her we all know your beauitful now lets talk about something else? Try it, it might make her feel batter and she may tone it down a bit.

It sounds like she is envious of you - probably because you are 11 years older then her, but you've got it together so she copies and copies. I've had friends like that and they wound up getting so crazy that I had to end the friendship. Just be careful of her - it sounds obsessive to me!

Maybe she is just insecure. You should definitly confront her about this, but do it in a non threatening way.
