I'm 16 and he's19, almost 20. Hes a freshman in ocllage and im a sophmore in highschool. I have absolutly NO clue what i should do. I think hes really funny and nice and we talk on the phone all the time but then when he asked me on a date i started feeling really weird with him. I know my parents would probably freak if they ofund out how old he was, i'm so confused. my friends say i should go for it but idk, the last time they told me to go for a guy it didn't turn out the best. What should i do? And if i do go on a date with him what should i tell my parents?

I met my boyfriend when i was a junior in high school, 16 yrs old, and he was 20 (im 17 now and he's 21). We were concerned about my parents too, he even offered to shave so he looked younger, lol. but my parents didnt mind...they often worry about me being with an older guy and getting hurt, but honestly, we've been together for almost 10 months and you need to just GO FOR IT!!!!! I was very hesitant at first as well, but dont worry....just go for it, thats what i did and now i am completely in love. my bf is flirty, but shy when it comes to girls that he really likes and he's always gone for the younger ones so........and i know i dont act like a ****** retard. everyone thinks im like 19 or 20

The main problem with an age difference is the maturity levels involved. Four years difference at your age is significant but not a death sentence. Four years difference in 10 years means nothing.

I think that talking with your parents might actually be a pretty good idea (if they are already used to the idea of you dating). They will have a different slant on things.

My main concern with you dating a 19 year old college freshman are his intentions. I doubt he's in it for a long time.

First of all you have to ask yourself why does an almost 20 yo want to go out with a 16 yo. Age usually doesn't usually matter but in this case it does. Please be very careful, a guy of that age can usually be only after one thing. I remember when I was 14 and I went out with an 18 yo and he attacked me, took me in his car to a place far away from everyone and everything. I didn't know what to do. I told my parents when I got home and I never saw the guy again. I was lucky, please be careful.

Ask this guy that before you two could go on a date he has to check with your parents and let them know he can be trusted....often times older guys only get with younger girls because they're easy think of that before you do anything....i mea whats a 19, almost 20 year old doing with a 16 year old when he can have girls more mature and near his age??? just dont be stupid and use your head not your heart

He better think twice. Your parents are not in agreement and you decide to go all the way? He can go to jail for a very long time for statuary rape of a minor. Until she is 18 she is jail bate.
Does he know how old you are? If your parents freak out and have him arrested, you can go on but he has a pedofile record that stays with him for a life time.

Your friends mean well, but don't listen to them. They don't have the life experience. Would you consider a double date or a group date? Always follow your instincts on this stuff, and remember that your parents are looking out for you. An older guy often has higher expectations.

What in the world could a 20 year old college student want to do with a 16 year old high school girl? Oh wait..
yeah you know what he wants. If your parents are worth a damn they'll nip this in the bud.

I'm the mom of 3 boys, one is college age. As a young lady just coming into your own, I have one crucial piece of advice for you. FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCTS!! You started feeling really wierd? RUN, do not walk, to the nearest exit. That little voice is your best friend. I cannot tell you how many thousands of women learned too late that they should have listened. Don't be one of them. Here's to a happy future for you, little sister!

How can you go for it?

A 16 year old girl is good for one thing to a guy college freshman.

You think he is "nice and funny"? lol

This is where it starts. 7 years from now you will be asking why all guys are jerks and "how can a single mom meet a nice guy".
