Has something changed with the water supply since you left and moved back in? Well water or city water? Is there mold present in the bathroom area? Stress? Just trying to think of other things that may have caused this. I don't really have an answer for you other than to see a dermatologist to see if its an allergy.

hello:
regarding your question about getting rashes after showering, the most likely cause is the makeup of the water.
There are many things that are put in water, ie. chlorine, there could be a different calcium content, lime content, etc.
The second most likely cause is the type of soap and creams you are using. Even if a soap states it is all natural and for sensitive skin, there may be preservatives in the soap or cream.
For example, Ivory soap is advertised as 99.999% pure. Sure. However this particular soap is notorius for causing people to break out and is very drying to the skin.
I usually recommend Aveeno soap to my patients.
Additionally, lubriderm or eucerin creams are very good for people with sensitive skin.
Thirdly, it is possible that the laundry detergent, bleach used in washing your clothes, towels and wash cloths or even fabric softeners and dryer sheets can be related to you breaking out if they have changed from what you normally use.
When you get out of the shower, never wipe your face dry. Gently pat it dry. The rubbing motion can cause not only more dryness but can actually cause a rash in some people.
I hope this helped answer your question.
Good luck.
Regards,
Warren Shaffer, M.D.

I would agree with the people above. You need to check the contents of the water, then ask yourself if anything else is different, did you buy a new soap, shampoo..., is the laundry detergent different from that which you used when you lived on your own? Also do you shower after someone? Do they spray hairspray or perfume that could still be in the air or get on your towels? Is there an air freshener in the room? I would investigate these things. Your probably allergic to something that is present in the bathroom.

it could be the water or the soap you are using. it could even be increased anxiety of being back home. first try a different mild unscented soap. something without the added fragrances etc. only use a cream if necessary. again without anything added. if the problem continues you may want to see a doctor.

Could be whatever detergent is being used on towels and/or face cloths. Could also be environmental or stress related.
