Big tip: If you EVER get a message that states you have spyware/virus and to "click here" to remove it, DON'T DO IT.
I recommend Norton Anti-Virus. It's a yearly subscription and includes automatic weekly updates.
Ummm.....Oh, I f you can have a geek friend set your hard disk to shut down after 15 minute (it comes back when you move the mouse or type). This will increase the life of the hard drive.
Also, never shut down. Let the computer run. The only time I shut mine down is when:
A storm is threatening.
I go on vacation.
In either case I also unplug EVERY connection to the outside world, phone, DSL, power, etc.
With the exception of weather and vacation my machine has been running for close to 6 years now.
HOLY DATA BITS BATMAN, I almost forgot...BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP!!!!!
Hard drives DO crash. Save ANYTHING important (pictures, music, programs you buy, etc.) to CD's. Of course , you have to have a CD burner, but they are pretty cheap nowadays.

This not an easy task to advice you. I will recommend you to use your common sense on most of the places. Then also you can use the Help on the different locations. But the best thing will be ask somebody who is close enough and knows computer can teach you few basic stuff on your computer for few hours. then in 10 to 15 days you try to use them. On internet you may find everything by opening Internet Explorer and going to www.google.com and searching about anything.

You found your way here so you aren't doing so bad.
Go to the Yahoo home page and try their free radio.
If you don't like that there are a ton of Radio sites out there.
Type free internet radio in the search engine.
Good luck, don't be intimidated once you get started you learn as you go!

Windows 2000 is pretty secure and it sounds like your looking for general help. I would start here:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=windows+2000+tutorials
There are also several books available that cover most of the common user questions.

Like the previous poster suggested, I recommend some security software and then check out your local library for some more books to help easily guide you through the many uses of your new computer.
