I always bake Christmas cookies starting 3 days prior to Cmas. But I was curious if I could make it easier and make them, then freeze them. Would they be ok or should I stick to making them a few days prior. If I can freeze them, what sort of cookies freeze and thaw well? Thanks and Merry CHRISTmas!

Yes you can, here on Dent Island I make many Different types you can make and freeze them, I even used to do that for the U of A in Alberta for the student union, so make and bake as much as you want just remember to use proper freezer bag's the best are glad freezer bag's , but please do not use the ziploc bag as they tend to allow air in they are not a completely closed bag. It is also best to saran wrap your cookies first then bag and freeze. As you should be enjoying X'mas to as well and time will best well spent. Shortbread cookies, rolled cookies, and cookie with oatmeal/ brown sugar or even a molasses kind.

Sure! A friend of mine bakes loads of cookies at the beginning of December and freezes them. They've always tasted yummy to me. Just make sure to have a very clean freezer, if there are any funky smells, it will get into the cookies and they'll take on the smell. Also, you're best bet is to freeze them in plastic containers.
Merry X-mas!

What about just pre-making the dough & freezing it, like the other companies do. Freeze them in cookie size portions then just thaw & bake. That way the ONLY thing you will have to do is BAKE!!
Good luck...
Merry Christmas!!

i don't know if this helps you or not, but, i would make them up and put them on a cookie sheet and freeze them, and if you dont have enough cookie sheets, after they are frozen, put them in a freezer bag and use the cookie sheet again, and before Christmas all you have to do is bake them!!

Sure they would taste ok, but they might get freezer burn in 2 weeks. And besides, fresh cookies always taste better.

I'm thinking those sugar cookies will freeze well, I'm not too sure about chocolate. And definitely NOT gingerbread.

I know you can freeze dough. Not too sure about cookies. However, I froze Oreos once and they were just as fresh months later.

Can be done if you insist - but you would have nicer cookies if you froze the dough and baked as needed
