Mankind has a spiritual void within them that only God can fill. We look for ways to reach and/or fulfill this need, which is as real as our physical and emotional needs. The many religions are mankind's way of reaching for God and enlightenment. Christianity reveals that Jesus Christ is God's way to reach mankind. Having been down many paths, I have found, as millions of others, that we can only fill this need through Christ. Simply believing in who He is, and what He has done... that mustard seed of faith... has made us whole and complete. There is nothing that we can do to earn or deserve it. It is a gift from God, by His mercy and grace.. His great love for us.

God was silent for many years. Think of all the time before God spoke. Imagine knowing that there was something greater out there, but not knowing what it was called, or what it wants. After a while, you just start guessing. You look for coincidences and signs to support your theory, then promote it to others.
Now if you're talking about the different denominations of Christianity, that has a lot to do with fear and corruption. In short, several people thought that the Holy Roman Church was corrupted by gold. In an attempt to save souls, most of these people went out to form their own churches. The did this, believing they were doing what God wanted them to do.
Best wishes.

I believe that Adam and Eve were taught the correct religion, they were after all taught from the Lord.
From that time, "man" has changed that gospel, added or subtracted what he thought needed to be...then there was a great falling away - the apostasy - and the need for a restoration of the true gospel. It was restored through the prophet Joseph Smith under the direction of our Savior.
You must also realize, Satan wants there to be confusion, disorder, contention...that is another reason there are SO many religions.

well...many religions are based on the same book (the bible to be exact) it's just they have different interpretations on the meaning. As of the other religions, many of them came from people who had visions of a different God and came up with their own religion that spread to these times today. And some just come from ancient religions. As everyone's religion started to fight with one another, they created their own holy books which stated their beliefs. Blessed be.

There is only one God. However, not everyone believes in Him. Some people insist on worshiping God's creation or figments of their imaginations. This causes multiple religions.

It is undeniable, seeing as how all of the major deity-based religions completely contradict one another, and go so far as to clearly say that the others are wrong....
that the majority of the people on this planet are going to some kind of hell, because only one of them can be right.
(Or, if you want to be rational about this... they can ALL be WRONG)

Most people of the world don't like the one God. He requires too much when He expects them to accept Him as their creator, LORD, and judge.
So they make up their own God's ....as the Greeks, Romans, etc did.
A god is anything(anyone) we trust to provide for us and we are willing to seek and follow. This includes money, looks, personal power, another person....etc.

The scriptures are interpreted many ways, mostly so they can 'fit' the person's lifestyle. Very wrong, isn't it?
