Most will, Just pump her up with protein and oatmeal. I would cook a chicken breast/ no bones of course, make a cup of oatmeal. Put a little butter and a touch of brown sugar and chop the breast into it. Give her this once a day along with her regular diet for about a week or two. Her wait should come back on. Also deworm her and the pups. You can get worming meds at wall-mart or a pet store.

They usually are thinner, after whelping. If they havent been fed right they may be skinny. Or if they have a big litter they may be skinny as it takes lots of nutrients for pups.

They won't necessarily be skinny, but they will lose weight. Aside from the obvious weight loss from the puppies, most lose some weight while the pups are nursing. Alot of that depends on how many pups she has, how long they nurse, how large they are, etc. Making sure she gets a good quality food during this time will help combat some of it.

Well, if she was fed probably during her pregnancy, she shouldn't be too skinny---but this is relative. She's going to appear a lot smaller after whelping, & may drop coat. Was she wormed before her pregnancy, can you see her ribs? Is she nursing too many pups & not getting adequate nutrition?

It depends on the individual. Mine tend to look pretty tough after whelping, and I feed a high quality kibble. I also add homemade stewed chicken to their kibble to encourage them to eat. When my bitches are bred, they are in very hard physical shape as well.
Some will get skinny no matter WHAT you do.

she will be thinner but not SKINNY..... Don't waste your time on here if you have this situation on your hands.... Your female can have post whelping complications..... Check with your vet.
It takes alot out of them...
