okay i know it's unusual to see an oriental girl with an asian guy...
but why do people stare as though it's a mismatch when me and him are holding hands in town?

All people living on the continent of Asia can technically be called Asian. Oriental is commonly used to represent the people of eastern Asia I've noticed. So your question seemed a bit odd at first. There are a couple of reasons people might stare. Either they aren't for races mixing and think it's wrong, or they're just not used to seeing people of you and your b/f's respective ethnic groups dating. Others will have to get over any hatred they might have for those who date outside their ethnic group or race though because it's happening alot more now, and I think that it's a good thing. People are beginning to date others for their minds and not their ethnic background.

crazy, i've always thought asian and oriental was the same. hmm....quess i have the wrong misconception. i guess people stare because it's a different combination of races. when blacks and whites started dating people would stare alot as well...now it's kinda the norm. most indian's aren't not suppose to marry outside their race, people are use to seeing them with their own race, same i guess with orientals. But i think it's great that you two are dating, wonder what your children will look like? beautiful i am sure...:) your picture is really pretty. Good luck..hopefully in time all the old stuffy staring people will die off and the newer generations will be easier on mixed relationships...prolly because they will all be from mixed relationships. People are people and love knows no bounds...:)

Isn't Oriental and Asian the same thing? You're Chinese and he's also Chinese or Korean or Japanese? or do u mean he's Indian?

Humm I personally wouldn't look twice. So I cant answer this question other then to tell you maybe people aren't use to see Oriental ladies with men of Asian decent but more so with white or men of African decent. But my friend whose mother is Korean once told me RUGS are Oriental people are Asian.
I just reread what you said. Your saying people from Pakistan are Asian, here for 35 yrs I thought they were middle eastern. Thanks for correcting me!

Well a lot of people stare because your a beautiful young girl. Dont worry about the people that are looking. Maybe they look because you two make a beautiful couple. As long as the two of you are happy dont worry who stares or says things. Be happy and dont worry.

I never realized there was actually a difference, other than the current use.......which I've been told is Asian.
As for the staring, perhaps you look more like bro & sis?
Or perhaps you are pretty, & it's you they're staring at.
