It will be ok!

I introduced a 1 year old hyper(!) dog to a 8 year old cat. At first the cat hid, but then he got used to the dog. I watched very closely for weeks, though...Now they are good friends. They even play together at times.
In fact, the cat is the dominant pet. When the cat has had enough of the dog, he either smacks him with his paw or walks away.

Just make sure that you give LOTS of love to the kitty, so the cat knows that he/she is not being replaced.

It is actually easier than introducing another cat to a home.

JUST PLEASE make sure you get a dog that is "cat-friendly" and not a chaser!

If there's room enough for two, then no.
The cat's still young, so it will adjust better than a cat thats not interested in sharing attention with anyone cus there king pin.

It has a lot to do with the personality and breed of both cat an dog.
I've grown up with every kinda situation you can imagine, stray cats following me home that completly rule the dogs etc.

The dog will accept the cat, given time an the occasional raised voice. It may never quite figure out what the lickle fluff balls all about, but its usually the case that they'll learn to ignore it.

Cat's on the other hand are a law unto themselves.
You can't teach a cat how to behave, they teach you how to deal with them.

What breeds??

I have 2 cats who were with me for 2 years and then we introduced a year old stray dog. The cats kept the dog in line, but I watched for a year to make sure the cats were safe. After about 2 years, just recently, I caught the dog biting at the cats. Well, of course, the cats put the dog in her place by smacking her back with their claws. Needless to say the dog doesn't try to bite the cats anymore

No. Your cat is still young. I'd try to introduce a male dog to a female cat, or vice versa, if you have a choice, but I think it will work well either way. Just introduce them slowly. Start with a few minutes together per day, then after a few days, increase to 1/2 hour, etc. make sure the time is supervised, and have a squirt gun on hand, and a good thick towel available to break up any squabble, if need be.

No but the dog will be bossed around by the cat because the cat was there first trust me i introduced a puppy into a house with 2 cats and the cats will just controll where the dog is allowed to go. it is called the PECKING ORDER.

Kind of. Basically it is what I did, and the cat took it really badly, but I had no choice because I saved the dog from the highway. I am trying to find a home for him, because it is really not safe to have them both. The cat will attack the dog because some day we'll make a mistake and they'll meet face to face, and the dog will fight back and there will be a bad accident resulting to death. For the moment, the cat attacks him through the glass of the balcony doors and he attacks us whenever we go in or out of the room where the dog is.

Be careful about asking a pet question on here, they'll attack you :)

But I think its ok if you do it properly and it's a puppy or a dog that is used to living with cats.

Make sure when you first bring the puppy in, that the cat can see the dog but not the other way around. Make sure the cat has got somewhere to escape too, usually up on a cabinet!
Don't leave them alone for a good while, but a cat can usually stick up for itself.
Have fun with your pets :)

It's not cruel at all. The cat and the dog will learn how to get along. It might take a little while, but it will work out. Lots of people have both cats and dogs. Some have other pets too. As long as everyone is getting enough love and food, it will be OK.

Its probably not a good theory to throw them in on the deep end and only plonk them interior a similar room mutually and need for the perfect, that ought to carry about a strive against and the hot kitten getting damage, with techniques from a techniques the perfect way is to introduce them gradually over some days, set the kitten up a muddle tray, mattress and toys in a room that you'll save the different cats out of without frightening them too a lot and once you carry the hot kitten residing house take him on to that room. provide him an afternoon or with the purpose to acclimatise to his new environment previously you commence the creation procedure, you'll likely word your different cats sniffing around the door as they're going to be able to smell the hot kitten, once you imagine the kitten is settled in open the door a crack, only a crack in order to ensure one yet another yet not get to at least one yet another, try this a number of situations an afternoon if theres any hissing, spitting or violence close the door and have a glance at back later, after some days try starting the door adequate only so as that they could get a good look at one yet another and function a sniff round, back if theres any battling chop up them up and close the door, after round 4 or 5 days you ought to be able to open the door totally and commence introducing the kitten to at least some thing of the residing house, i ought to propose that the kitten is seperated from the adult cats at nighttime till eventually he's sufficiently vast to fend for himself and they have truly were given used to at least one yet another. the finished procedure ought to take some thing as a lot as 2 weeks it ought to in elementary words take some days previously they're ignoring one yet another like in elementary words cats can! although the benefits you receives from taking the softly softly attitude make it more advantageous than properly worth it. of route there is continuously the chance that your older cats will by no skill take to a sparkling addition at which element think ofyou've got to make the decision to discover the hot kitten yet another residing house. i wish this enables!
