I am looking for a sweet and sour meatball recipe that i had once before. The sauce is made from ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar and Worcestershire sauce. Is anyone familiar with this recipe?

A good sweet and sour sauce is about balance and so dont be too strict with the recipe quanties. I find its good to experiment with different sweetners and acids.... for example honey and lemon juice to substitute some of the sugar and vinegar.

The Ketchup adds body to the sauce and of course the red color but you can add regular canned tomatoes. So to make it more interesting try tweaking the base recipies in the other answers. You can of change the sauce as you go. Just keep tasting....too sour (add sweet) too sweet add sour (acid)..... Experiment!....thats what makes cooking rewarding... you be surprised how often it works out. Keep tasting constantly, if it tastes good to you it will taste good to others.....

Also I find the majority of meatballs I ever try at restauants are dry and bland.... You need lots of fat and seasoning to make good meatballs.. Make sure your Mixture has plenty of both......

Good luck and enjoy....

make meatballs using your normal method and try out this sweet and sour sauce

* 1/3 cup of rice vinegar
* 4 tbsp of brown sugar
* 1 tbsp of tomato ketchup
* 2 tsp of cornstarch mixed with 4 tsp of water
* 1 tsp of wooster sauce

Method

1. Combine the cornstarch with the water, making sure that the cornstarch fully dissolves into the water and set aside.
2. Place the rice vinegar, brown sugar, tomato ketchup and wooster sauce into a small saucepan, mix together and bring to the boil.
3. Add the cornstarch and water mixture and stir all of the ingredients together until the sauce has thickened to the desired consistency.
