Have you tried coal tar shampoo? It's much more effective than regular 'dandruff' shampoos. Neutragena do one, you can buy it off the shelf. It's brown and has a distinctive (not unpleasant) smell. It can be used every day.

This works hunny no kidding i have made it for my son before. you will need to get a plain shampoo not specially made for any type of hair ok. it's hard to get a very plain one to add oils too so don't add to the whole bottle just as you use it. You need to buy some tea tree essential oil make sure it's pure you can get it from boots or from the health food shops or online . you also need a small measure that you won't use for anything else ,when you go to wash your hair put 2 drops of tea tree to every 20mls of shampoo ok and massage into your hair . You can add 2 drops to 10mls of shampoo but try the other way first in case it's too strong for you ok, you need a plain shampoo ( cheapy) don't forget superdrug do one that will be ok with the essential oil if you make it as you use it it's under a quid. Don't add the tea tree to the bottle can go off and react with the placca bottle . post an answer let me know if you tried it ok good luck x oh and rinsing with a bit of cider vinegar keeps ph of scalp right

Here is a natural remedy for dandruff which helped me:
Put 2 L of water in a big soup pot. Get a metal or mesh tea ball (available at any dollar or big box type store) and grate one third of a cup of ginger root (available in the produce section of any supermarket) and put the grated gingerroot into the tea ball. Put the teaball into the water and simmer it on low to medium for 1 to 3 hours, adding more water as necessary. When you are done, let the liquid cool completely and pour it into lidded glass containers(throw the grated ginger away). Use it as the final rinse on your hair when you shampoo and condition. Make sure it gets to your scalp when you pour it on. It relieves dandruff AND the itching associated with it.
Hope this helped!

I suffer with it too and some of your answers are interesting.
Personally I'd forget tar based shampoos as they are possibly carcinogenic.
I find a few drops of vinegar in a pint of warm water for the final rinse helps - probably because it removes the build up of shampoo that normal rinsing leaves behind.
It leaves the hair in nice condition restores the skins pH value and toughens the skin to boot.
Good luck!

I find the usual antidandruf shampoo's like h'& sh' turns your hair whiter. and some conditioners even make my hair fall out more then usual. Coaltar is probably a good one, or if you can stand the greasyness a tiny drop of E45 bath oil, in the water.

I would go see a dermatologist because dandruff might be a sign of a more serious condition...
