What if we removed all of the attempts at explaining natural phenomena, as well as the intolerence, cruelty and violence from the Bible and left it simply as a collection of philosophies by which to live a peaceful life? I'd be willing to get behind a book like that.
Thomas Jefferson did something similar in his day. He removed all of the supernaturality from his Bible and created a book of what was applicable to his time.
Isn't it time for a new edition? So much of the Bible is totally ignored or even completely inacurate or irrelivant to us in our modern age... Why not other holy books as well?

However what is MORE IMPERATIVE is for those who are the "responsible parties" to fess up, CONFESS and ADMIT their culpability in being responsible in corrupting and bastardizing the Bible in the first place; for altering the course of human history; and for all the atrocities that had been perpetrated over the centuries "in the name of [THEIR kind of] God..."
Then and only then, should we all know the Truth behind HOW the Bible --and the evolution of religious sects-- became what we know it to be today; and what the Holy Bible ought to contain from the rest of the original Scriptures and Scrolls that are still kept in their Archives and HIDDEN from the public eye up to now.
Short of all that, anyone is welcome to draft their "own" version, I guess...

Benjamin Franklin believed there was a God but didn't like religion but he felt is was needed for it's morals though. Personally, I don't like religion either. It's about having a relationship with Jesus.
About updating the Bible... I like the Amplified Bible. It's very updated and very relevant
A peaceful life will never happen till Christ comes back. There is an enemy out there...not natural but spiritual.

also, remember -- there are over 100 different versions and translations of the bible, each one claiming to be the "real" word of god. THAT ALONE should tell you how false and ridiculous it is.
