I am against amnesty, and the majority of Americans are against amnesty, but what would we do, if Congress did give it to them? I don't think they will, some people on here seem to think so though, so I was just curious what we would do, if they voted to give it to them... I'm sure it will be on the table at some point again.

Simple replace Congress. We the people have the power. They speak for and serve us not the other way around.

What would we, the law abiding citizens of this country do if Congress gave Illegal aliens amnesty and citizenship? Well, in my humble option, some of us would get angry and IF we remembered, the next election, we MIGHT vote against them. For the rest, a big fat nothing!
It appears that for majority of us, we have very short term memory and do not have the resolve to make elected officials responsible for their actions (or lack thereof) in Congress. This is why so many politicians get away for decades with unscrupulous behavior.
Besides, they were given amnesty once before, why shouldn't Congress do it again?

To make a protracted tale short; "2 wrongs do no longer make a precise !" Reagen truly fukced up with the help of no longer imposing sanctions for destiny border jumpers, whilst he presented the 1st amnesty. with the help of no longer doing so, he left the door open for a hollow new wave of unlawful immigrants. quickly forward 2010. we hit upon ourselves interior the comparable mess we've been in 198 something ! in straightforward terms this time, the super manipulator at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave will attempt to apply it to garner votes, the two for his occasion interior the November elections, or being the poisonous narcissist he's, for himself in 2012.

The majority of Americans, over 60% (see link), are in favor of some sort of legal path for illegal aliens already here. If it did happen it would mean that illegal aliens already here who are currently ineligible to apply for a green card will now be able to do so. It wouldn't be automatic and it would include, among other things, a criminal background check.
UPDATE - Polls do vary. That's why it's important to look at several in order to determine trends. The link I provided has polls from different companies that show the same general conclusion: most people are in favor of some form of legalization. None of the results on the Fair site are inconsistent with that because they are asking different questions.

To be honest, some would protest and even go to D.C. But the majority would simply stay at their homes and fumed at what Congress has done. That is why our represantives don't respect us because we don't complain enough.

Let's just have the borders enforced, employers fined and put out of business, and go ahead and stop having this whole discussion. The best/fastest way to help Mexico stand up on their own two feet will be to build the US/Mexico border fence, and end the free ride. They need to develop their own industry, their own economy, and not just live off of ours forever. Border fence 'si', amnesty 'no'...

As in let them stay? Any other country would punish/deport illegals......I'm sorry, but there is a carrying capacity in this country/other countries. We can't afford to let everybody in....Do you house everyone who comes to ur door looking for a better life? We help them find that better life...That is what we should do with these other folks from bad countries. ;)

There was an amnesty during Regan's presidency. The American people will probably do the same this time as they did then.
