I stayed at a motel for a night with my boyfriend and had to give my address and drivers information. What do they do with that information? I dont want anything being sent in the mail to me because I dont want my parents knowing I went.

It's usually within the motel act that they take such information. Most of the time a motel is paid by credit card and that is complementary information to prove you are the owner of the credit card. They are more cautious because most people are on the move and not locals.

They rarely contact you. Usually on the rare occasion that there was damages or missing items from the room, or other extra charges, or maybe like if you left something.

I've stayed at lots of hotels and motels and that is my experience. It is different if you sign up for their rewards program, points program, enter a contest, etc. Then they will send you information.

They will tell you they collect personal information in case you run out on the bill. But be prepared to get advertisement from them for you to stay in their hotel again.
