I just bought a new LCD tv here in the UK and plan to take it to North America when I move.

Actually we just bought the television...and plan to take it to Jamaica. I know I can get an adapter and then I won`t have to worry about the current, but will it work with the right adapter, or do I have to worry about PAL & NTSC issues.

That is correct - you won't be able to plug it in, not in the US or in Canada. However, you may be able to buy an adapter or transformer, so check at the store where you bought it about an adapter package so that you can use in in North America.

This site may get you started on the road to a definite answer to your question.

Now that all the negative answers have shown.
This is what you can do to find out if it will work or not. In the owners manual or on the set itself. Look for NTSC compatible. If it is you should have got a conversion plug with the set. This will enable you to plug it in to either a UK or North American outlet. It should have a dial in the back of the set, to change voltage for the power converter in the set. Alot of the newer sets work anywhere & have done away with the dial in the back. Check with the store where you bought it. They should be able to tell you right on the phone if the model you bought will or will not work & what to do. Good Luck

Yeah, 2 things wrong. The electrical outlets are different here in the US, and TV's in Europe are PAL. In the US we use NTSC. It's just on how many frames per second there are.

If it is a "multi system" it will work. My family brought a TV and VCR from England back to the US in the 80s and they were fine, but they have to be specifically designed to work in both.
