I am awaiting a job offer from DHS. Most likely,I will be reporting to Artesisa,NM for recruit training. I am prior service so I'm very much familiar with resident training, however I am told there are some differences in the living arrangements. I googled the area and there seems to be nothing there? I welcome any personal experiences, advice, etc. Thank you.

You will report to the border patrol sector in which you will be ultimately assigned. There you spend 3-5 days with the Post Academy staff completing all entrance paperwork.

From there you are shipped to the academy in Artesia, NM. Upon arrival you will be assigned to a barracks style housing unit. Make sure you have several sets of 'business casual' attire. You won't receive uniforms for at least a week.

There are a few night shifts but primarily all training is during day shift, Monday - Friday with evenings as off-duty time. However, the curriculum is not easy so you will want to devote much of that time to studying.

On base there is a laundry facility, club/bar, a first rate gym for on and off-duty use, movie rental's at the student center, ect. There isn't much to do in town. There are a couple of bars, 1 movie theater a Walmart, ect. If you want to bring a car it is permitted. Nearby are Roswell, Carlsbad and within about 3 hours drive is El Paso and some fine hunting and hiking in the mountains.

Upon graduation you will return to the originating sector provided you aren't sent on a case processing detail to one of the target sectors.

The training camp you mentioned I'm going to assume is FLETC. The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. Located in Artisia, New Mexico. It's not just a training center for Border Patrol but all governmental law enforcement agencies. Training at this center includes agencies such as Border Patrol, FBI, NSA, FFDO, BOIA, etc. It's not reserved specifically for Border Patrol. You should be able to find more information about this center by doing a search for FLETC or Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. They are not targeting just the Mexicans. It's just the central location were all physical training is conducted for the agencies I mentioned as well as others.
