Some sites open IE because that is the ONLY browser they are compatible with.

The browser choice is mandated IN the web page programming, and there is nothing you can do about it; except quit using those web sites.
They simply will NOT work in other browsers.

Yes, choose to change the Default browser.

Open IE window, Go to Tools > Internet Option > Programs tab, Uncheck the Option "Internet Explorer should Check to see if it is default". Then click on the Apply and Ok.

Now go to Start > Control Panel> Add/Remove Programs. Click on the Left pane "Programs Access and Defaults". Double click on Custom and Under "Choose my Default Web Browser" Select Firefox.

you are talking about your system default settings. If you are on Windows XP....click Start.

On the menu you should see an option......Set Program access and Defaults. If you don't see this then try to find it it the control panel.

This will bring up the Add or Remove Program window.
Select the "Custom option".

If you do this be sure you understand what you are doing before setting anything. Good luck.
Now you can see how to set your default options the way you want them.
I prefer to stay withing the same working window but you have several options.

If you open a Microsoft web page from one of their links then it will open in IE first. You can thank Bill Gates for that.

In cases like this, I usually just copy the link and then use Firefox.

Hope that helps. Good luck! :)

You need to go to preferences or options and select one as your default browser.
