Hi

Can anyone recommend a nice cheap hotel or bed and breakfast close to the city for this weekend?

Also, can you travel from JFK to the City by Metro?
How long is it and what time does it stop?

Many Thanks

I would recommend The Washington and Jefferson Hotel in Hell's Kitchen. Despite the name, Hell's Kitchen is an area of NYC that has undergone a big change and is a very desirable place to live and visit. It is on West 51st St right at 8th Avenue. It is right in the Theatre District and is convenient to Central Park and other areas as well. The area has a real neighborhood feel to it since there are also apartments and little shops and restaurants along the block with the hotel. As for the transportation from JFK, I have added a link to a page that presents many options to get into Manhattan.

By Metro I'll assume you mean train or subway. There is a AirTrain stop at every terminal that connedts to the LIRR and then to the city. It's $5 for the airtrain and another $7 or so to Penn Station. You can also take a bus for about $10 or 12 to the bust terminal by Grand Central station. Going by public transport (bus and or subway) with luggage just isn't worth it. A taxi will cost about $60 to Manhattan from JFK ($45 flat fare plus tolls). Depending on traffic and which option you choose it can take anywhere from 40 mins to 90 mins to the city plus whatever time it takes to get to your final destination.
Good Luck!!! Enjoy our awesome city!
