what I've realized is the best way to study is to try out different ways and pick the best one.
This is how I study.
For my english and history classes, I have come up with a system that helps me study. I pull out my calender and book days when i will be reading the material casually, taking notes while I read, re-reading my notes, summarizing my notes for future refernce, brainstorming of ways to answer the essay question at hand, then writing my first, second, and third essay. The final essay I have choosen competant writers in history and english to look over my work for all tyeps of errors. They usually rip it apart. Then I spend one day re-constructing my essay. I do the peer review again and agian untill I am satisfied by my work. Then I hand it in. This is time consuming but so effective that I have recived A's and A+'s on all my papers. It works because when I sit down to study I don't have to ask myself, where do I start from? What do I do? How do I study? I know exactly where in the stydu process I am and exactly how much I have learned. Hope this helps. Keep at it and you will find out a way that works best for you.

Well first you will have to find out what sort of group do you fall in?
The first group are those people who prefer studying alone and the second group are those who study better when discussing topics with friends.
Whichever you are, you need to get used to studying, start off with at least half an hour each day and slowly progress your way up with each passing day.
You need to maintain your concentration during this period, don't get distracted, and take regular breaks in between of about 15 mins each.
Another important thing is to get enough sleep, and don't leave everything for last minute studies, it might help you to just pass an exam but it won't help you to retain the information.
All the best!

i don`t want to sound too idealistic but you will never be able to study efficiently unless you start BELIEVING in what you do.
just like you did , i have tried millions of plans and tips to study and nothing survived more than half an hour till i stopped for a second and thought that this book before me is my way to the person i have always wanted to be and that alot of people never got the chance to study and be who they want to be... then you will focus and you will get where you deserve to be
good luck
