Did you know that women who have had abortions state the following?

21% can't afford a baby
21% are unready for responsibility
16% concerned about how having a baby could change their lives
12% have problems with relationship or want to avoid single parenthood
11% are not mature enough/are too young to have children
8% have all the children they want/have all grown-up children
3% possible fetal health problem
3% maternal health problem
1% pregnancy resulted from rape or incest
1% husband/partner wants them to have abortion
1% don’t want others to know they had sex or are pregnant

For all you people who say, "what if the pregnancy is a result of rape?" these are the percentages. Your thoughts please?

On the StatsCan website it also states that, by far, the majority of women getting abortions are from 20-29 years old. (Not the teen girl who is scared and alone because the teen abortion rate is decreasing)

It is fine to say you believe in choice but if you believe in abortion only when it is because of rape or incest then you would be telling all of the others they should not have abortions.

Adoption is hard, pregnancy is tiring but please don't underestimate the abortion procedure. (it can have lasting effects on the woman) (PASS is out there whether people wish to asknowledge it or not) -- that is not to say it is never the right choice, only that abortion is not an easy alternative.

I wouldn't think that many abortions were for rape or incest. I'm actually surprised it's as high as it is.

What does all of this have to do with the rape/incest scenario anyways? When people ask what would happen in the rape situation, they want to know what would happen in the rape situation. They don't care how much this situation comes up, which is apparently fairly frequently.

Until you've been there, you can't say anything.

I got pregnant when I was 18 and at a bad place in my life. I seriously considered having an abortion. I also seriously considered adoption. I decided against both and I now have my daughter with me and we're doing great.

Others don't make the same decision I did and that's their choosing. It's none of my business OR YOURS.

They all sound pretty legitimate excuses.
Plus no-one can force you to have a child if you do not want it.
People who say "just give it up for adoption" are blind to the fact that the whole pregnancy ordeal is very tiring emotional and physically.
That's why I'm a proud pro-choice-er!

Well the woman and her husband chose to have sex and now they have no choice but to bring a beautiful child into the world.

I'd wager that the 1% rape/incest is greatly overstated.

100% of statistics are bull.

I would rather a person have an abortion than have 8 children they can't support and have the children suffer endlessly because of parental irresponsibility.

I'm glad you feel that way. However, the government still has no right to decide such personal matters just because your religion feels it to be immoral.
