I'm going to become someones Godmother in february, but i don't want to go for the classic silver tooth holders and stuff, because everyone else will be getting them and at the end of the day they just get shoved in a cupboard. So does anyone have any ideas? The little girl in question will be 7 months old in february.

What I gave my niece was a charm bracelet. Then everytime she loses a tooth I have my brother place a new charm under her pillow. She LOVES it!!!

This is just some idea's. You could get her an Italian charm braclet for later on. At first you get the starter bracelet, and add charms/birthstone/Initials/Godmother, you could get her an amethest stone to commemorate the date.- all price ranges.
You could also get her a really nice outfit that would fit her now, but I'd get her an outfit that would fit her on around her first birthday, which is only five months away. And a hairband to go with it. I got my daughter a nice trunk when she was about 10, and started putting things she would need when she set up house keeping on her own. Pot set/dish set/set of glasses/silverware/tea towels, bathroom stuff, the list is endless. Then theres when she turns 16.
Well, I hope I gave you a few idea's.

A jock strap would be an unusual christening present for a girl.

But seriously, I recommend something sentimental as opposed to expensive. Maybe a necklace with a cross or medal (is she named after a Saint?).

You can name a star after someone, and it will be called that forever. Costs about £60 or something, but you get a littl map of where it is and a certificate etc.
I think that's cool, and kinda godmotherish, giving her a star........

Things that I have seen Godparents give to their Godchildren:

A bible--a children's bible. (Religious story books)

A nice gold necklace or an ID bracelet with her name.

The gown the child wore.(it was beautiful)

Toys (it happens)
