It is a tiny gland in the middle of the brain that regulates all of the other glands to secrete their specific hormones. It can cause different things if it is not properly regulating the other glands. For instance, if it does not regulate the growth hormone, that is producing too much or too little of it (HGH) you can have dwarfism or giantism in the person.

A pituitary gland is an organ that is small and oval in shape, is found near the base of your brain, and its excretions control a host of other glands in your body that influence growth, metabolism, and maturation. If it doesn't work properly it can cause a host of problems. The most notable effects would be seen in a person who is much shorter than average, or a person who is 20 years old but looks like someone who is 12 years old. It could also be the root cause of obesity in some people.

This is the "boss gland". It is located in the very center of your brain. It is the size of a pea.
It tells the other glands what to do and when to do it. It is very rare that something should go wrong with this gland, because of where it is located, it is very protected.
However, if there is something wrong with the pituitary gland, everything else goes haywire. Most of the time it is not able to be operated on.

Many things can go wrong with that gland. I got a disease from having a pitutary gland problem. If you gland doesn't function properly it can cause many things too happen. Look up Pitutary Disease on the internet.
