in a family husband is working and wife is a house wife. in that case which filing status is good to save money (married filing jointly or married filing singe)?

Married filing jointly wins over married filing separately almost all the time, especially if you have minor children. Any reasonable computer program can compute the savings in the blink of an eye. in short, do your taxes together and see what the results would be. If you are going to use Turbotax or similar, please make sure you put everything in before comparing. Yes, I know its a chore, but I make good money correcting mistakes just like that!
