ACTUALLY, Its based on the Torah, the first 5 books of the Old Testament. And it revolves aroun a cummunity, with the synagogue as the hub. All Jews must live nearby to have any hope of fulfilling Jewish Law.

The Law, given by the Father, is quite extensive. Remember, the outside world sees it as alot of confining rules. Jews see it as a gift of G-d. Do you know G-d to give poor things? right. Remeber it is GIVEN by G-d.

The Shabbat (sabbath) is to be kept Holy. G-d himself took the 7th day "off" as an example. He is omnipotent, He wasnt tired, but saying "look, here is how to live". It starts Friday at sundown, with a special meal and prayer over the family. It then is rest and 2 walking only trips to the synagogue until a nice meal Saturday at sundown. You cannot walk more than a mile on Shabbat, or drive. This is why Jews must live close to a synagogue.

There are many feasts throughout the year, called High Holy Days. These include Chanukkah, Yom Kippur, Festival of Booths, Rosh Hashannah, etc. I cannot take the time to explain these, but you can learn enough simply on wikipedia.

There are many laws on food, clothing and cleaning as well. These are given to help keep all Jews healthy, holy and sanitary. I ususally find the number of people who dont understand Jews is always exactly equal to the number of people who dislike them.

Thanks for taking some time to understand.
Blessings,
David

Technically you're seen jewish in the adventure that your mom replaced into jewish, and since the Jews do not motivate conversion (it remains available to transform) there's a small selection of ethnicity between jews. I even have been to Israel and there's a brilliant community of black (in general Ethiopian) jews there. on the different hand, if a jewish woman marries an African-American, ans Asian guy or somebody from the different ethnic team and is derived to a decision to strengthen her toddlers interior the jewish faith, definite, they might have Asian or African-American jews. As on your final occasion, "can a muslim be jewish?" often the respond is not any. they're 2 diverse religions. even though if, some people evaluate they're jewish in the event that they have been raised via jewish parents interior the jewish way of existence. if so they use the term as a cultural identity quite of a non secular identity. A muslim jew is a available theory in that regard.

Most Christians believe the Jews base their religion on the belief in one God, and on the first 5 books of the Old Testament, but that ceased to be the case, long, long ago.

Today's Jewish religion is based on everything and on nothing.

There is no longer any recognizeable "standard" Jewish religion on the earth.

If you're going to talk about a faith, you should do it within their parameters. Judaism's holy book is the Tanach, which contains the Torah, N'Viim, Ketuvim. (Torah, prophets, writings). The laws were given to Moses on Mt. Sinai, who shared them with the Jewish people, freshly freed from Egypt. It is a religion of ethical monotheism. The holy city is Jerusalem. Their congregation leaders are called rabbis, which literally translates to teacher.

Google the name Gary Greenberg who wrote "101 Myths of the Bible". He maintains that the Old Testament is derived from Egypt's historical religions and mythology. Read his website, I think you'll find it interesting and relative to your question.
