Reading through the answers I'm not to sure many really answered it.
You are right, if you look at the population of nation verses the land mass there is plenty of space to grow and share our "lucky" life. I too believe it's great that we open our wealth to help those who need to escape to a better chance at life. After all that is what this country was founded on. Noone in this country is here because their family startd here at he moment life began. No matter how far back you go we all immigrated here.
The problem with illegals is this: the money. When you come into the country illegally you are not paying taxes. These taxes are used to maintain our land, roads, medical services, police schools; everything that makes this country so appealing. When you have more people using these services but not putting into the funds to pay for them the services go down in quality and amount. Overall the immigrants are awesome they make America what it is but when they do it under the table we all lose out.
I am sure their is not a single person on earth who does not break a law from time to time but how many of us break a a law that cost so much for everyone. Yes jaywalking and crossign the border are both dangerous but they don't come close to costing the same.
Seeing many of the "good" ones as a military person is a great honor and sence of pride to see that other people want to come to this great land I am lucky enough to call home. So yes let them all come just please come and help us maintain the great country we have.

So are people who are on a waiting list to come into America the legal way. What makes them better then those people. At least the ones that have the okay to come have been tested. Doesn't anyone understand that? Do you want TB or other contagious disease? Their are reasons laws are created.
As for room in the US for all the people that's why there have been major flooding because so many houses are being built that sewer system can no longer take the waste.
But hey let them in and be knee deep in sewage, with disease etc. So we too can be a third world country? NOT

Illegal immigration is a crime. The law's the law, and it's a crime any way you look at it. For that matter, so is aiding and abetting illegal aliens. The common concept here is the first word, 'illegal', as in 'against the law'. Countries have borders, and laws, for a reason, even if you don't really seem to respect either one.
Also, sometimes having that 'better life' means building it right where you're at, 'the search is over' when you decide it's over, kind of. Making your own opportunities is not easy, which is why the popular answer is to 'sneak over the wire' to the USA. Nonetheless, it's still a crime.

They may be nice but they are criminals, and we sure dont need more of those. Coming illegally is a crime. If we let all come that want to there wont be anymore space. Let them stay where they are until they can do things legally.

It's not the NICE ones we worry about. It's the ones who come here illegally adn want the free health, the welfare and the handouts. They are a drain on the working taxpayer.
And just because YOU break the law doesn't mean that
A) everyone does it..
B) it's not wrong.

We don't have room for more people!!! We are over populated as it stands now. Whether they are legal or not, we are crowded. And also, the main reason why people don't want illegal immigrants here is because they take the benefits that we AMERICANS work years to obtain. Like retirement. SSI, thiongs like that get cut when we are spending billions on housing, medical, and criminal costs for illegal immigrants who obviously can't do it on their own. That is money that you and I pay in our taxes from our paychecks. Think about it.

"Some of them are nice people..."
Ok, so what do you think would happen if we just let whoever wanted to live here live here? Hmm...I am thinking that wouldn't be such a great thing when the entire country of Mexico shows up looking for jobs and welfare. There are rules for a reason. The should be followed and no, there isn't room enough for everyone to come to the U.S.

My relatives immigrated here legally, and were treated like dirt when they came off the boat 200 years ago. Why should we welcome people with open arms if they're not going to bother even trying to become legal citizens? If they're coming here just to work or go to school, work visas and school visas exist for a reason.
