My dad and uncle both have diabetes *runs in the family* and my uncle does not take care of himself. He doesn't work out, he eats pizza, drinks lots of diet sodas, and eats all sugar and nothing esle foods. My father on the other hand, just barely stopped smoking for the 4th time, *grrr* and he is unlike my uncle very thin. But compared to other fathers his age, he's rather chunky!

My uncle has had both feet amputated, because of his blood pressure and because of his diabetes. And my father has had a liver transplant and had hepititus, and it is now gone. He's in far better health than my uncle and you can see it in the way both of them act.

My uncle is extremely obese, and he is the one to blame, however his heart cannot take the pressure of exersize, and he has been treated as a problem child since he was a baby.

--he was deprived of oxygen when born, because he was crowing and the doctor wasn't there, so the nurse closed my grandmothers legs up, and sat on her legs to keep him from being born. Because of this he was mentally and physically slow for the rest of his life.

The heatlh system should be like buying life insurance. The unhealthier the individual the more expensive the insurance should be, and vice versa. That way, at least it will promote healthy living because it hurts their pocket, even if they didn't care about their health.

It depends on who you ask. Those who believe in a socialist healthcare system would say everyone should share the burdens, and then the laws will come to ban smoking, drinking, eating of unhealthy foods, etc. My view is that the individual should be responsible for it. Period.

I think it's a matter for education, like spelling. It's a good question but we would lose so much freedom and the big brother atmosphere would be more expensive than the added cost of someones idiocy

Yup, the government.

I, along with my fellow liberal democrats, believe that the government should take care of all it's citizen's wants and needs.
