I now have a tailgaiter cam for proof, when I will eventualy see some accident a tailgater has caused, I can give the video as evidence in their dangerous driving style. I drive the speed limit, even a little faster, but if you get all up on my @ss, I will have proof of it. And it's not my fault you cant leave in time or plan ahead, so you dont have to risk everybody elses life. It always makes me laugh, when I see these speed freak jerks flying down the freeway, forcing everybody out of their way, then when we get to town, the jerk is stopped at the same stoplight as me, maybe one or two cars ahead. Morons! If you want to drive really fast and "draft" people, go to the track, and keep it off the highways!

Slowing down IS the proper thing to do. Just because you don't like the rules of the road doesn't mean somebody else has to break them too (speeding up) or enable your behavior (moving). Speeding up also increases the amount of damage if an accident occurs, especially if the tailgating person takes it as meaning they can go faster (and continue tailgating). This attitude is precisely why people should be retested every so many years after getting their driver's license.

I think the moron who is tailgating has the road rage. I usually travel a five or so mph over the speed limit, when someone tailgates me it severly pisses me off, especially on one lane country roads with no passing zone. What the hell am i supposed to do? And why are you in such a hurry when i'm ALREADY SPEEDING?

Tailgating is illegal, tailgating will not intimidate me out of your way. I can downshift faster than your reaction time to hit the brakes...and I am better armed and I am the better shot. Road rage on me if you like but I recommend raising your insurance coverage first.

By-the-by, I am a highway patrolman in an unmarked car...your move.

If I'm in the left lane with no other vehicle in front of me and someone is tailgating me, then I will move over to the right and let the car pass. But if there is a whole line of vehicles in front of me and I'm traveling two seconds behind the vehicle in front of me and someone is on my ***, then that's a whole other story. In some cases I'll actually slow down to give myself more room between myself and the car in front of me since I will need more room to stop in case the moron behind me does something to screw up.

If someone is tailgating me, I slam on the brakes, hear a bang and feel a tug, and then I speed back up and head on my way. My bumper appears to be holding up fine.

personally I'd like to fire an antitank missile at the next truck that sits within 2 feet of my vehicle.
Tailgateing is against the law and is also a very dangerous practice.
Being a trucker I completely understand that drivers get frustrated (me too) but the tailgateing law is there to protect us all.
Just remember that confrontation can become ugly-NORRIS RING ANY BELLS! iF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE NEVER MIND YOUR LICENCE

If I am going the speed limit, then I will not slow down or move out of the way...I am not the one breaking the law...but God help them if I hit my breaks for whatever reason and I get hit from behind!

because if they think that's all the room they need on the road...that's all the room I'm going to give them :)

and it would REALLY make my day if I could get beside someone going the same speed as I am that way they're stuck behind me. They're road rage is a choice they're making - I'm not responible for them getting angry when they should be THANKING me for saving their life and making them slow down :)

Actually tailgating is road rage, stop being a **** before you kill someone.

Also, it may not be MY job to enforce the speed limit, but it is MY CHOICE if I wish to follow it.
