The lost Books of Enoch were a popular series of writings that appeared between 250BC and about 100BC. The first was written at the time of the Maccabean Revolt, when the Israelites tried to break free from the rule of the Greek Empire. The original was designed to inspire the Jews to believe that they are destined by God to destroy the Greeks (which they failed to do).

There still exist today several documents written by Jewish leaders at that time condeming the books as "fake". About like the controversy that surround Dan Brown's DaVinci Code. They have neven been accepted at any time by either the Jewish or the Christians as scripture. They are not quoted by Jesus or any of the apostles or early church leaders as scripture. There is a quote in the book of Jude which is accredited to Enoch, but the quote is not found anywhere in the "Books of Enoch" themselves.

Enoch was a real Bible person (see Genesis 4). But the Books of Enoch are not real.

They books have some historical value as they show what some of the Jews at that time believed, but are not scripture. If you would like to read them, they can be found at http://reluctant-messenger.com/enoch.htm

Enoch was Noah's grandfather, the book of Enoch tells of the fallen angels who took wives of men and had children by them that were giants, the women didn't survive childbirth. These giants were more evil than their father's were. Also," dewcoons" is wrong, the book of Enoch is quoted by the apostles. This book originally was part of the bible, but it lays waste to the lies of the catholic cult who in turn tried to hunt it down to extinction. Oddly, they never went anywhere near that far for the other books of apocrypha, most of which are really ridiculous.

There were a bunch of books considered for the Bible, but they all weren't put in if anything was questionable in or about them. But even in the Bible we have today, it does talk of the angels coming down to earth and having kids with the women. That's where the nephilim came from and that's why God wanted to destroy the wicked with the flood.

The nephalim...mentioned also in Genesis chapter 6.

the Book of Enoch may or may not be true. It was written by the Gnostics. It is, like many other non-canonical, texts mentioned in the Bible -- mentioned in James.

I read it, and no offence, it wasn't all the divinely inspired. It was mostly a list of what evil fallen angel gave us what evil sin. VAnity and such. A who's who of where to place blame. It was boring and read much like a children's book. And I read it when I wanted to disprove the bible, so believe me when I say, it's not worth the effort or the money you'll plunk down for it.

Yes, search for Gnostic or Eucharist versions of the bible.

Did you read the fictional book Vigil? It's pretty good and about this topic.

Indeed. It's basically about the nephilim, but it covers many magickal points as well--hence the reason it was removed from the Bible.

It's not lost ... but it's not inspired, either.

It is a good read, though, with lots of fascinatig stuff about angels.
