I was just at the dentist the other day and the hygientist cleaning my teeth made a comment about the brown line on my tooth. She tried to remove the line by cleaning that area longer, but it didn't remove it.

After I got home, I looked in the mirror and was horrified at what I saw. My back teeth on both sides of my mouth have this weird brown line that follows right about the gumline.

Obviously, it was not a great concern to the hygientist who cleaned my teeth and I doubt the dentist even noticed the lines because they are in the back of my mouth and he just gave a cursory glance at my teeth.

Does anyone know waht this can be? Should I be alarmed? I am worried it will spread to teeth in the front that people can see.

if he/she didn't worry over it,then you shouldn't worry at all.
maybe later on he/she can find the reason for it.
ask more the next time you go back.
Merry Christmas

It sounds like your teeth are just stained (not all can be removed during a cleaning.) Talk to your dentist about teeth whitening.
