I think the tour of the UN would be worthwhile. You can have access to many different areas inside the building and learn about the diplomatic process. It is not something most people would ever be exposed to.

As for Ground Zero, I don't think that should be a real tourist destination and for the most part you are just going to see a construction site.

Especially if you're interested in current / world events, yes, it's very worthwhile. Actually, that is such a major player on the world scene that, whether or not you agree with their policies, actions, if you have the chance to see it, do! There are some fantastic displays there...
ground zero?- If you're in NYC, certainly. What has defined the US more the last 5 years than what happened there?

No because its an evil organization and most countries hate the USA in the UN. They just use us for our money etc. I would go visit Washington DC and visit some monuments to the greatest nation on earth.
