Cancers do occur in the heart but are typically more rare than cancers of other organs. You can group it into two categories, primary and secondary. Primary tumors are usually one of two types, myxomas in adults and rhabdomyomas in children. Secondary tumors arent technically heart tumors, they are tumors from another place that metastasized to the heart, like a lung cancer.

Yes.
Primary heart cancer is rare but it does exist. It is known as cardiac sarcoma or an angiosarcoma. Cancer can also spred from other areas (melanoma and lymphoma) and affect the heart.

Heart cancer is rare because the heart cells do not replicate/divide. Most cancers occur in frequently dividing cells such as the epithelial cells that line the lungs, gut, reproductive/urinary system, ducts of the breast, and of course the skin.

Never seen one in 10 years I have been an oncology nurse, if that tells you anything.
I did know a couple of patients, one with cancer in the fluid around her heart, and another one with a gelatinous mass growing around her heart.

There are alot of heart problems but cancer is not one of them. Pictue this cancer usually attacks things that do not move around much. The heart is constantly pumping and beating so there is not a chance. However there are certain forms of blood cancer and other conditions that can strike the heart just as bad as cancer....

yes, although primary tumors in the heart fairly rare in comparison to secondary (metastatic) tumors. Examples of tumors that have been known to attack the heart are myxomas, lipomas, rhabdomyomas, fibromas, and sarcomas.
