Coming from a former teacher, nothing with apples or "Teacher" on it. Chances are they already have plenty of gifts with those kinds of things on them. I always liked the gifts that were homemade. One year a student gave me coco mix in a pretty jar with the instructions on how to fix it tied to the lid of the jar and then 2 cute Christmas mugs. If you just wanted to do one mug per teacher, you could put the coco mix in a clear goodie bag tie it with ribbon and sit it inside the mug. Gift cards to a book store are really good, too, $10.00 is enough if you are on a budget, it adds up fast for more than one teacher. Anyway, good luck, don't spend too much money and don't worry about it, it's the thought that counts.

I worked in child care for 4 years.
I would definitely get something for the teachers, and make sure it's similar in quality. It's kind of weird/awkward when someone gets something nice and another person gets something crappy from the same family. I would go with a card or small gift card for all, but don't make a big deal out of it. Don't get a group gift, but it would be nice if you had the money to buy something for the classroom as well, like a new toy or supply that they need. Make sure the teachers know it's for the school and not for them.
If a teacher is only part-time, or hasn't spent as much time with your child, it's probably okay to get them LESS, but something SIMILAR to what you got the other teachers. Don't buy Christmasy or Teacher-y stuff. Most people don't really appreciate it.
Another idea would be to bake cookies or something home-baked for the teachers, and that way they all get the same thing. I always loved when I got cookies.

I think you should get all three gifts so as not to cause tension or awkwardness.
But you could write an extra special note in the cards for the teachers your child and you love, letting them know how special they are.
Preschool teachers really want to know that they 'make a difference' thats why we teach preschoolers for less money than public school or office work .
So a really nice message in the card would mean the world to the teachers. Let them know they are appreciated. The gift could reflect this thought, like a nice bath set for pamering. But don't forget all teachers will see each others gifts but they shouldn't read one anothers cards unless they are really nosy!!
In my experience preschool teachers like gift cards from Starbucks or Target or Borders. Also you could ask youy 3 1/2 yr old to sign her name on the cards or even draw her own little cards?

For the 19 month child, just get her something small, just a token of appreciation. Maybe a box of chocolates or a small bath set.
Teachers just want to know that their hard work is appreciated. With a kind note on a card you will make them feel very special!

When my two boys were little I would purchase a gift or give a cash donation for a charity. You could even talk to the director about organizing a school wide charity donation. Both of these are great ways to teach your children the importance of helping others. Another benefit is it alleviates the teacher from receiving a bunch of "token" gifts. I mean how much candy, ornaments or desk accessories do they want. Most teachers I know appreciate the gesture of a gift but don't really use it.

My best friend has worked in a daycare for 15 years, she really does not expect Xmas gifts and actually has quite a display of "favourite teacher" pins, mugs, t-shirts. She always says that she wishes if parents insist on buying gifts she rather it be something that the she could share with the daycare children. A donation for new toys or art supplies, some treats (cookies, chocolates, you probably have to check for any allergies or restrictions first). Just something to keep in mind. Can you imagine after 15 years or more the collection of things you would have if each child bought a gift. Not that she doesnt appreciate it she just always says she would rather parents spent the money on the kids.

as a person who's last day teaching preschool was this past friday, and i got a bevy of gifts, i can help you. the two that you love you get personalized gifts and the wont that you dont love but she is still teaching your child you can get a gift but it does not have to be personal. please make sure that everyone get treated the same regardless of the love you have for the other two. maybe you could get all three the same, like bath and body works. the one that you dont love may still be an effective teacher and she is still teaching your child. so even if you may decide to put a more personalized spin on the two, still try and make sure that the other teacher gets just as nice a gift. it just does not have to be personal. i hope i explained it right. peace
