Well, more specifically, what is the ozone that is created by the ionic breeze? How harmful is it?

Normal oxygen you breath in is usually O2 (one Oxygen particle bonded another single Oxygen particle just like water is H2O, one hydrogen particle bonded to 2 Oxygen particles)

Ozone is O3 (Three Oxygen particles all bonded together). Ozone is a thin layer of atmosphere located at the very top of the atmosphere. It protects the Earth from radiation generated by the sun. CO2, Carbon Dioxide, and other "Greenhouse Gases" deteriorate the ozone layer which allows more of the sun's ultraviolet radiation to get in.

Ozone is perfectly safe and breathable. Its still oxygen....just slightly different. However, the "ozone" created by the ionic breeze isn't REAL ozone. Its still O3 air, but it doesn't protect the Earth from radiation. Sharper Image only calls it ozone as a selling point. The natural ozone layer can only be created from lightning. As lightning whizzes through the air, it charges the particles of normal O2 oxygen causing them to first break apart into simple O1 (one particle of oxygen bonded to nothing). Oxygen is not stable at O1 so it attaches to another normal O2 creating and O3 ozone particle.

Another thing to point out is that the sun's ultraviolet radiation is safe in moderate doses. It is what causes you to tan when you go sun bathing......or get a sunburn if you stay out to long.

hope that helps

Ozone is O3 (usually only seen as O2 normally) but somethin about the radiation atmosphere filters out makes it possible for 3 oxygen atoms to bond and result is a molecule that shields Earth from that Radiation. In the amounts you are talking of not harmful...ozone is found in greater quanities in junkyards as tires decompose.

It is O3 not good to breath but it is what shields u from the sun's radiation. Without it u would die.
