Actually they were still ruled by England....wasn't till later that they actually started fighting back. Pretty much a revolt. Now why don't the other country's do that, rise up and revolt in their home country?? If they are being oppressed, Care to answer that one ?

I personally know several people that are granted citizenship here due to their "opressive government." They are granted assylum because they write down on the US application that they are a Christian living in a Muslim country (which, most of them are actually Muslim and just want to come here), or they write down that they are Homosexual's fleeing discrimination (and they're not even gay), yet the US gov't keeps letting these people in.
I met my wife in a foreign country and it took me ONE FULL YEAR to get her over here - Tell me how much sense that makes?
US laws are CRAP, and need a complete overhaul.
We need to scratch all the codes and go back to the Constitution and start all over again.
The pilgrims that you mention came here and built a country, they didn't come here to collect welfare.
This is a blog, not an answer.

That is not a good comparison. When the Pilgrims got here, the Indians did not have homes, towns, jobs, schools, hospitals, etc. already here for them. The Pilgims had to build it themselves. Immigrants come here for what has been built and maintained by others. A better analogy would be if the immigrants ran to a deserted island. But, of course, that would defeat the purpose of getting benefits without accountability.

You do not know your history very well! Puritans ran over to this country because they were pissing people off back in their home countries. They were religious zealots who took the bible literally, and this pissed people off, so they ran to the Americas to seek refuge. It was come here or be slaughtered. The pilgrims of today would be known as asylum seekers, much like the cubans are. So what exactly is your point? Seems you dont have one!

The pilgrims didn´t "run" to the US because the US didn´t exist as a country back then. It was just a colony with no government.
Most illegal aliens are not being "oppressed" by their governments, the ones who truly are have the right to claim asylum instead of sneaking in through the back door.

Interesting. The Pilgrims were a bunch of Religious Fanatics nobody really liked. So they got on the Mayflower, came here and killed the Indians (with measle laden blankets) who actually helped them endure the harsh New England winters. Nice people, huh ? (sarcasm) Since most of that land was only occupied by Indians and the "white man" of those times did not consider Indians to be human beings, in their minds they were on a "mission from God" to claim the land for themselves. 500 years later, the descendants of one of the most intelligent civilizations in the world happen to be coming over now. They don't become religious fanatics until they come here (I've seen it ). I agree that they are opressed in their country but it is a socio-economical type of opression.

The USA has benefited greatly from the pilgrims. It is from their religion, their families, their culture that the USA is what it is today.
