All you need is proof of insurance and your driver's license and vehicle registration. Basically, the same things you need to drive anywhere.

I'm a US citizen and would go to Canada often with a US car. My insurance would just give me a copy of my proof of insurance that was in French (For the Quebecois). Other than that, no extra paperwork was needed.

Do you mean it is another persons car? Just have a letter from the owner that you have permission. And make sure you have their registration and your licence.
