I wouldn't take a personal gift, but more of a "host gift." Fresh flowers, nice chocolates, or a bottle of wine are some examples.

It depends on what type of people they are. Do they indulge in a Holiday drink? If so, then take a bottle of wine, or spirits of some sort. A gift of thankful hospitality is not wrong...so a gift of something connected to whatever the couple likes to do is also respectful. It was nice that they invited you so a gift would be appropriate.

It's always the polite thing to do to bring a gift to your hosts (any time of year)...Not to mention that it can't hurt to make a good impression on your husband's boss.
It doesn't need to be anything major, though...A bottle of wine or sparkling cider, some flowers, perhaps even some cookies that you make.
Just a little something to let them know you appreciate their hospitality.
Otherwise, if there was going to be a gift exchange, they would let you know.

A host/hostess gift is nice to bring to any party. (any time of year) A nice bottle of wine if the boss likes that. A basket of goodies wrapped nicely. -- they can enjoy it later when the guests leave.

You should always bring a hostess gift when envited to dinner. Being that it's a Christmas party I would suggest something like a keep sake ornament. I would avoid liquior because many people don't drink for either health reasons or religions reasons.

Yes! Aways! Even if it is a box of candy, a nice jar of nuts, or a bottle of wine (if you know what he drinks) Or any Christmas party is a wonderful place to take a poinsettia plant. Good luck and have fun.

etiquette dictates that you bring a gift for the hostess for later use. Usually a bottle of wine or other spirits or a box of chocolates. She can decide to open it for the party or not. It is her prerogative.

bring something simple like a nice bottle of wine or freshly baked goods such as bread or cookies. in most cases its understood you don't need to bring a gift to your boss (afterall he is the boss and probably takes in twice the income annually) however it would be a nice gesture if you brought something and its something the boss would remember.

Imagine if they don't like wine and 20 people show up - each with a wine bottle. Some people don't even drink. A small box of candy or nuts would be fine.
