I'm not sure of your price range or tastes but here's a few good wines for under $15:
Whites:
Firestone Gewurztraminer
Carlo Rossi Chablis (comes in 1.5 litre bottles, an all-time bargain)
Graff Piesporter Michelsberg Riesling
Bella Sera Pinot Grigio
Reds:
Meridian Central Coast Pinot Noir
Corbett Canyon Merlot
Glen Ellen Cabernet Sauvignon
Woodbridge Special Vineyard Selection Zinfandel
C K Mondavi Zinfandel
Rose':
Gallo Twin Valley White Merlot (more interesting than most White Zinfandels)
any Provence Rose' from France

I only partially agree. A $5 wine is usually not great and usually is a jug wine. Passable but not memorable. Very good wines can be had for under $15 however. The thing about wine prices is that its not the quality of the wine that dictates the price. A great $15 bottle of wine may be rated equal to a great $60 bottle of wine. The difference is that the $60 bottle is rarer. That is, the winery that makes the $60 wine only distributed 500 cases whereas the $15 bottle was part of a 50,000 case lot. Low distribution mediocre wines don't sell well but low distribution great wines are snapped up by the wine collectors and high end restaurants and therefore the high price. Expensive wines carry an allure and a mystique but in most cases have an equal wine in a far lower price range

Any of the Barefoot wines are good. They actually win awards and only cost about 5 bucks.

I have been over seas a few times, and have drank wine from
all parts of Germany. Great wine.
But you just can't beat that good ole booty kicking Mad Dog 20/20
or Concord grape wine. Salute'

I like spumante. It is like an Italian champagne. Total Wines always has them for less than $15 and has quickly become my favorite.

Anything from Australia. It's all more inexpensive then other countries but at the same caliber because of the way they harvest their grapes. So, no matter what your flavor (chardonnay, merlot, shiraz, etc.), go with an Australian vineyard.
