I love Scotland!

I flew into Glasgow, and then took the train to Edinburg. It was a really nice trip, very scenic.

Spent about a week in Edinburg, and I wish I could have stayed longer! The people are really nice and there are lots of things to do. Climb Arthur's Seat for great views! It was easy to get around, and the city is safe and clean.

I was also there during the Fringe Festival in August - so I saw a bunch of shows too.

If you go during school breaks, there is really cheap housing at the university that includes a really nice breakfast.

I'm from Scotland. The best small country in the world. In fact if we were not ruled by the plundering sassenachs and we held all our own resources we would be the eight richest country in the universe. Not bad eh! No wonder that lot below will not give us our independence. They know when they are on to a good thing. One day we will be free and a nation again. Look out her we come.

Just got back on last Monday. It is beautiful and the people are very friendly, but if you're coming from the US, it is outrageously expensive. The pound is worth about $2, but everything costs the same in pounds as it would in dollars.

Beer in US $3.00
Beer in Scotland 3 pounds ($6.00)

Crappy hotel in US $50 per night
Crappy hotel in Scotland 50 pounds

I shudder to think of my credit card bills this month, but its worth it if you can find bars that have over 100 single malt scotches to choose from.

It is magnificent, just make sure you come during the spring and summer becaue it gets awful dark and miserable during winter time!

Avoid places like Renton, Aberdeen and Carluke and you will be OK. In general , Scotland is magnificent!

l have, usually l like visiting places but could not settle down to the area we stayed in Oban, some how it seemed inaccessible at the time l was there.
However as time went by after the holiday l realised that l would really like to re visit as there was something special there that at the time l failed to appreciate and now live to regret.

Wonderful place - Just beware of the Haggis during the breeding season - they can give you a nasty bite.
