I would suggest you call the Mexican consulate. They have several located around CA, AZ, NM, and TX. Not sure about other states but, you should check it out.

besides all the paperwork you will be finger printed, have a back ground check going to a couple of interviews.i became a citizen 7 years ago and back then there checked for aids and other so called deceases. i don't know if there still do this today.
after everything check's out you go to you final interview were there ask you some questions about history and government.there will tell you that day if you will become a citizen but it still takes a few weeks or months til the swearing in.
