I second Playa Del Carmen...actually anywhere in the Cancun/Riviera Maya area will give you the most for your money. I've been there several times, including my honeymoon last year and always have a blast. Going back this year as well.
As for cruises, I went on my first one ever this summer and caught that Norovirus...don't think I'll ever go on one again! Plus, the alcohol is a rip-off!!
