Of course you can!! You could even have a Man of Honor, if you were closer to a male friend...but 2 Maids of Honor are perfectly fine.

Yes you can have two... but you should have saw that coming... blood is alway thicker then water. And your TWIN! WOW, you better be working on a good Christmas present for her :) LOL
I picked my sister and one of my friends was mad about it but I talked to her about it and calmed her down. I didn't want to have two..... and it was also easier to pick my sister because I have 6 bridemaids and I am close friends with them all!! Plus I am keeping all the bridemaids and maid of honor the SAME which helps- all the same dress and all the same bouquets and all. Sometime people "dress" up the maid of honor... I think in your case it might be easier on your if they are all dressed the same.
You also may want to think about "who" is going to give the speech- just the best man or will one or both the maid of honors say something??

It's your wedding...anything really does go as far as the bridal party. Be careful that your twin doesn't feel bad about being added after she got upset though...it might linger.
Most states don't have the Maid of Honor sign the certificate anymore so that won't make a difference unless you are in such a state.
Blessings to you.

For my best friend's wedding, she had both her (only) sister and myself as Maids of Honor. When I got married, my best friend was my Matron of honor and my three sisters were bride's maids. We shared duties - holding flowers, fixing dress, holding ring, etc during the ceremony and we both gave toasts / speeches at the reception.
It is your wedding and you can do what you would like, but I would make amends with your sister. She may still feel slighted that you are asking her only after she became upset.

At my wedding I had a maid of honor (single) and a matron of honor (married).
If you do choose to go with two maids of honor, be clear to both of them that there will be two, and make sure they each know what their responsibilities and privileges are (if any).

Sure. It is your wedding. Is one of them married? If so, then you could have the married one be your Matron of Honor and the other your Maid of Honor. If neither are married, just make them both your Maids of Honor!!! It's your day and that's all that matters!

Technically, the best man and maid of honor SIGN YOUR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE. There can only be one representative from the bride and one from the groom that signs this document. Anything after that, you can have as many attendants and call them whatever you want, but you need to pick ONE person to sign your certificate, so technically the answer is NO.

You can have two(I did) but only one can sign the marriage license. If one is married, you can have a maid and a matron of honor too.
