its going to take several weeks for proactive to really work, and even then, you will still have some acne i would imagine. I like Biore's pore clearing wash & lotion a lot as well as Aveeno products. I literally tried everything on the market (there is also a proactive knock-off called Acne free or soemthing like that my best friend tried said it helped but made her face extremely dry, not like proactive which i found really calming). before i finally just got some accutane. i have like baby soft perfectly clear skin now after 2 months. i love it.

I am not advocating the use of drugs necessarily, but the birth control pill Yasmin is supposed to be excellent for clearing up acne. Unfortunately, if you have a serious acne problem, there is no way of clearing it up without drugs that i know of, except sometimes suntanning, which i also don't advocate necessarily! If you have it bad enough that you are acquiring a lot of scars, i think you may want to get a referral to a dermatologist. One last though on the drugs - as far as drugs go, that get prescribed to clear up acne, i actually think the birth control option might have the least bad side effects.

If you have oily skin you can try twice daily drying your skin with some medicated toner or rubbing alcohol. Clean and clear has a good toner with salicylic acid which usually works. A good old fashioned sulphur soap is great too (though the smell may not be)
I also suggest monitoring your diet and your stress levels. Sometimes factors in our diet contribute to acne as well as stress. Keep track of when you get the most breakouts and try to determine what may have caused it -was is the piece of fried chicken u had last night? - for example
Drink lots of water to keep your skin hydrated (as opposed to oily) and vitamin C.
If it is possible have a slice of water melon before bed for about two weeks (without missing any days) this usually 'cools' the system and has the antioxidants and vitamin C to work wonders while you sleep. If this works for you, you can repeat it as often as necessary. (papaya works well too -or even a combination of the two ;)
TAke care and good luck!

I was thinking of trying Murad.

It looks like it might work. i have also had good luck with AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) also called glycolic acid. It worked very well.
