The unforgivable sin is also called the unpardonable sin because it is the one sin that's unpardonable by God. It is blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. How does one blaspheme the Holy Spirit? A complete disrespect and rejection of God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. But so much more. I think a person could reject the saving grace of Christ but there would still be hope of coming back and asking to be saved and you'd still be granted, upon true repentance, eternal life. But if you said to yourself, "I HATE God, I HATE Christ, I HATE the Holy Spirit and I'd like to flush them down the toilet because they are evil. Then you sat out to become their enemy, swearing allegiance to satan in order to devote your life to mocking and blaspheming God and all that He is....... if you did that, then you have committed the unpardonable sin. You have sold your soul out to evil. You've hardened your heart and have made a solid vow to be God's enemy. Many people fear they have committed the unpardonable sin and worry there is no forgiveness. But you can't commit this sin easily and most have not done it that think they have. Hope this answers your question.

To blaspheme the Holy Spirit. It means to ignore the feelings or inner voice that convicts us all of our sin. When we do something wrong the Holy Spirit makes us feel remorse for our deed. If we continually reject that conviction, or feeling, then the Holy Spirit will be 'quenched' in our lives and God will abandon us to our own desires. At this point-where God leaves us- we have commited the unpordonable sin. It is unpardonable because only God can forgive sin-but He has abandoned us, he is gone-we are on our own as far as salvation is concerned. . We no longer have the grace to repent. We can not save ourselves and God will not do it-we are helpless and condemned. There is nothing that can help us.

examine those verses a million and a couple of back. heavily this time. and you will see that they even have no longer something to do with forgiveness. yet in view which you have been raised to confirm Christianity as a decision between heaven and hell, repentance and condemnation, you will finally turn any passage in the bible that suggests a decision, right into a passage approximately forgiveness/condemnation. yet those passages are no longer approximately that. As on your 3 rd element there. No the place in the bible does it say that no longer accepting Jesus is a sin or that it won't have the ability to be forgiven. back, on suitable of what i've got already mentioned above, you seem to have been conditioned to confirm Christianity as being approximately Accepting Jesus as your Lord and savior, and hence you turn verses into that, while they have no longer something to do with that. The verse in question talks approximately blaspheming against the holy spirit (no longer Jesus). this isn't any longer even approximately accepting the holy spirit. It grow to be mentioned to those that saying that Jesus' paintings grow to be the paintings of the devil, and because Jesus grow to be working by employing the skill of the holy spirit, this declare grow to be blasphemy against the holy spirit. The implication being the unforgivable nature of this way of element has to do with the paintings that the holy spirit is doing. e.g. human beings have been finding on the holy spirit working to furnish them from the devil's penal complex, and saying that this grow to be the paintings of the devil. somebody who has their acquaintances and enemies THAT mixed up has particularly made it impossible for themselves to be rescued. that's the belief at the back of that verse. this isn't any longer approximately unforgivable, God can forgive something if he desires to.

blaspheming the holy spirit is denying that the Holy Spirit is he is or did what he has done. It is by the holy spirit that we are saved through the sacrifice or Jesus Christ. If you deny the Holy Spirit then and what he has done and is capable of doing then you deny the salvation gift of grace the he gives and which is forgiveness, if you reject forgiveness you cannot be forgiven

Edit:

DerekJ above has just committed a perfect example of the unforgivable sin. It is important to note that this is life long. It is completely possible for him to repent and accept Jesus Christ as his personal savior and be saved, though I doubt he ever will.

According to some scholars

The "unforgiveable sin" is to lead a someone to not believe in Xtianity. Since Saul of Tarsus and a LARGE number of proseltyzing fundie Xtians are the reason I'm no longer a Xtian - I suppose there's a large number of them about to go live in their "lake of fire".

To reject God's offer of salvation, through His son Jesus Christ.
The Bible talks about how people who grieve the Holy Spirit won't be forgiven. In the context of that, the Holy Spirit's job is to convict people of sin & draw people to Jesus. Those who reject Jesus, God's provision will not find forgiveness & not enter into eternal rest.

ie: Paul, Saul of Tarsus, murdered Christians and enjoyed it. He was forgiven.
The thief on the cross was a known thief & murderer...He was forgiven by Jesus.
Suicide- self-murder, is not a mark of a saved person, but could still be done by a saved person.

I agree with Arajer and a few other comments in that line. One thing I would mention is that anyone worrying about committing it, probably hasn't got there yet. The person who has will no longer feel guilt over their conscience, since it would be broken (like a compass that no longer works but points wherever you want it to). The other thing is that God hasn't given any of us the "gift" of knowing when to give up on people. As long as they're breathing it's our responsibility to pray for them.

Impenitence at judgment is the unforgivable sin. It is the proud profound denial of God's love, by denying His very identity and refusing any merciful correction and thereby forgiveness which is yours to receive.

Some refer to killing yourself as the unforgivable sin. This is because any other sin you commit, you can ask for forgiveness for and repent. If you commit suicide, you can not ask for God's forgiveness. This is why some refer to suicide as the unforgivable sin.
