I wasn't going to answer this question just give a jovial reply but it seems everyone else beat me to it.So to correct the balance,
Yes,Alcohol.
Sometimes I think I was born an Alcoholic but my problems started when I was 19, more than half my life ago (I'm 42 now)and it defined my lifestyle for an awful long time.
Addiction and Alcohol affect people in different ways making people think and act in ways that are totally out of character, affecting everyone you know, damaging relationships and friendships and ultimately your own opinion of yourself until all that's left is despise and hate,oh yes and alcohol.
The cravings and fear of living without a drink are almost unbearable, withdrawal from Alcohol in some cases can kill and boy does it feel like.Only you can stop,no-one can do it for you not even God.
I could go on and tell you about some of the things I've done and said, and regretted or mention the friends that died along the way mostly alone with nothing but the cheapest and strongest drink at hand but I won't they've found their peace. As for me for the last 8 years I've been fighting back by staying sober there have been times when I've failed,Alcohol tricks you into thinking that your better but I'm still here and a wiser person for it.
Problems persist but I deal with them in the best way I can and now I have the Help and understanding of my family,I have managed to rebuild many bridges(not all,my brother thinks I'm a waste of space and a failure.) and create new ones with a family of my own.I can't change twenty years of my life but I can learn from the mistakes I made and never underestimate the power of an addiction.
I am an Alcoholic and always will be,and I won't apologise for that. I'm proud of myself for stopping drinking and realising how fantastic life can be and intend to keep it that way.
AND I WON'T APOLOGISE FOR THAT EITHER.

a few years ago i was completely addicted to fruit machines.. every lunchtime and after work i would cross the road to the local games arcade and easily put in £150 pound a day.. either cash or getting money off my credit card.. causing me to run up £15000 worth of debt! Ended up changing my job which in turn was the best thing i could of done! however recently i have been playing on the lottery scratchcards and in just one week spent £150!! so i have now band myself from the site by ringing them up as i dont want to go down that road again as im still paying off the debt which is now about £8000.. never ever again!!

I've got a bit of OCD. It's knowhere near as bad as some people but it can make my life a bit of a bind sometimes. I have to check everything in the house until i'm satisfied like all the cooker knobs are off, all light switches are off and any essential plugs (like for the fridge) are completely flush to the socket. It's a bit of a routine before I leave the house but I can laugh about it because once it's done I can forget about it. Some people have it really bad but I'm ok.

Does listening to music count? If it does, I would be addicted to it. But that doesn't cause any problems.

Shoes. The only problem this particular addiction presents is finding space in my home for them.
