What does a full time maid do? Is it just cleaning, or is it other things?

Generally speaking cleaning and house hold duties. In reality if you're hiring one you will need to specify their duties and if you're being hired you will want to make sure that those duties are fully specified.

growing up my neighbors had maids(our house didn't, my sister and I were the maids)
There were 3 that worked different days, but one at a time and all day long breakfast til dinner or whenever the parents got home from the hospital or Dr. H's clinic (they were both doctors)
Anyway, the maids cleaned and cooked and watched the kids when they came home from school and during the summer all day. Sometimes they would take all 6 of us to the neighbors pool to swim. It was like they were almost a mother to the kids. They were also definitely a part of the family.

If she works for one family (live in maid, or a maid that works in their home every day), it's usually cleaning, but in addition she can take care of pets, cook, and occasionaly take care of children, do laundry, run errands, etc.... Her main job is still to clean though.

If she works for a comany (merry maids, hotel, etc) it's just cleaning.
