People this is asked way too many times, and what is worse, the answer is totally common sence.
Yes, it would be way to heavy to fly within the reasonable price range that most airlines consider, But also, think of this.
you are traveling at 500 miles per hour and you smack into the ground. so you go from 500 miles per hour, to 0 in like 5 seconds. Just because the airplane is made out of a material that dosent break apart as much dosent mean that everyone inside will still not die. They will, because of the amount of force that they experience as the plane goes from 500 to 0 in such little time. Things will fly all over the place, and even if they are straped to a seat, the stress on the brain and other organs would be so great that you die, and i bet the seatbelt would cut you in half anyways.
so,
1. it wouldnt fly
2. its stupid anyways

There is a flaw in your question as the "black box" doesn't always come out undamaged. Contrary to what you may have heard, they are not black, but bright orange so they can be located more easily.
They are made from titanium, an almost indestructible and very costly material. You could make an airplane from titanium,( the military has some with lot of titanium in them) but nobody could afford one. However making the titanium into sheets thin enough for aircraft manufacture would negate the protective part of it as far as crashing is concerned.

It would be nice if it could fly. An airplane has to be light in order to have aerodynamics and be able to carry passengers. The black box is made of very strong materials but it is small enough that the weight of these materials is not much of a factor. The heaviest thing their is in an aircraft is the fuel at take off.

The aircraft would be too heavy if it was manufactured out of the same material as the black box. Also another reason that the black box survives the crash is because where it is positioned in the aircraft.

The logic that says that airplanes would be too heavy to fly if made from the material of a black box is complete bull. Heavier? Maybe. Too heavy to fly? No.
Also, the assertion that says that its never damage is completely incorrect. Have many of you ever seen one after a bad aircraft accident? It is not that far from total annihilation either.

Because the black box is lunch box sized! The plane is much larger and if it was made out of the same material the plane would be too expencive, too big and too heavy to even go airbourne. Think about it.

The airplane would become extremely heavy and wo't be able to fly. Moreover, the material used to create the black box is expensive.

Too heavy to fly, and contrary to popular belief the black box does get damaged in some air mishaps.

I believe that material would be too heavy for the plane to actually fly. But, yeah, classic question whose answer can probably be found any where.

Because big squared flight recorders with engines mounded on them would not be able to fly.
