It was at a public school. My grandson sang lots of Christmas carols and they sounded great. To be honest, they included a song about Chanukah. I think these stories about Christians being persecuted by godless liberals and not being allowed to celebrate Christmas is a myth.

If someone is going out at night and vandalizing Christmas decorations at private homes, I doubt if they are in the ACLU or even godless liberals. What they are is common criminals. If this is really happening file a police report.
The USA Today and the Washington Post articles are excellent. They hit the nail on the head. Thanks.

For perspective, read this:

And this one, too:

"...there is an ugly, bullying aspect to this dispute, in which the pro-Christmas forces are not only asking, reasonably, that their religion be treated with equal status and respect but in which they are attacking legitimate efforts at inclusivity. It's this sense of aggrieved victimhood that confuses me: What, exactly, is so threatening about calling the school holiday a winter break rather than Christmas vacation?

The latest alleged perfidy is the failure of the White House Christmas card to mention Christmas, instead expressing "best wishes for a holiday season of hope and happiness" and featuring a verse from Psalms. William A. Donohue, president of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, calls this evidence that the administration has "capitulated to the worst elements in our culture." I call it a recognition, especially welcome at a time of sectarian violence, that not all the 1.4 million folks on the Christmas list are Christian.

This has reached its most imposition-of-Sharia-law-like level of intolerance in the campaign to cow stores into saying Christmas. O'Reilly, escalating his "Christmas Under Siege" campaign, has posted a list of naughty and nice retailers. The American Family Association goes further, calling for a boycott of stores -- it's targeted Target -- that fail to use the word Christmas in their advertising or in-store promotions. "Target doesn't want to offend a small minority who oppose Christmas," says AFA's chairman, Donald Wildmon. "But they don't mind offending Christians who celebrate the birth of Christ."

Really? I've just gone on the Target Web site and plugged Christmas into my product search. "We found 39,197 match(es) for 'Christmas' at Target," it reported. How offensive is that?"

The ACLU has exactly one purpose for existence - to make sure the government doesn't violate the Bill of Rights. That's it. What possible reason can the Right have for focusing their hatred on a group that defends the rights of Americans from government abuse?
Also, the ACLU doesn't go around looking for schools to sue. What they do is hear petitions for help from private citizens who's rights are being trampled by the federal, state, or local government. So, if someone at your grandson's public school felt they were being forced to participate in a religious program that they disagreed with, then they could petition the ACLU to get involved. If no one petitions, the ACLU will not get involved.

I'd be really surprised if the kkk were against the aclu, seeing how the aclu has defended their right to say whatever they want in court.

Yeah, I remember my public school doing the same thing when I was younger. I wasn't too happy about it, and I won't make my (future) kids participate if they don't want to, but whatever. Celebrate xmas all you want, as long as you don't use tax dollars to do it or make other people participate who don't want to.

Edit: I love the aclu. Yes, you do need to pay their legal bills if you lose - because they are upholding the constitution and you were breaking the law. You were wrong, you shouldn't have done it, and now you have to pay for it. That's how the system works.

The ACLU has a stranglehold on us. They have special privileges under the law. If they sue you and you lose, you have to pay their legal bills.

Most people being sued don't want to risk spending money on their own lawyers and whatever the ACLU says that they paid their lawyers, so they cave.

Please do a search on the ACLU, and you'll see what they're really up to. They are real, and the threat is real.

Yes it is a myth. The people spreading the hate and division are right wing talk show hosts who make their living stirring up BS controversy. If it wasn't for them cons and libs would find that they have more common ground than they think. Maybe not in politics but in common manners and respect for others.

Depends on the area you live in I guess. They tried in my small town and even black folks were saying the KKK should hang them. We still pray at graduations etc.
