I saw two in Harrods the other day, they were so adorable - would love to have one or two (not sure if you HAVE to have two)

Anyway, yer they were lovely-can you tell me what they are really like? I've herd things like they are very spitefull, and if they can will wreck your house if they get a chance. Of all the cats this breed seem to have been given a bad name of what i have herd!
So what are they really like ?

Thank You x

I had a Balinese who is a very close bread to the Siamese. they tend to be stubborn, but they are beautiful and and very talkative! They are very smart. If it were me I would get two so they keep each other occupied, otherwise as with any lonely cat, you could end up with your hands full! Have fun and enjoy them!

I had one once, and I've fallen in love with the breed, almost all people who have them can't get back to another breed afterwards.
What can I say ? They have a lot of personnality. They are the least independant of cats and follow you everywhere. Mine used to jump strait into my arms when I was standing up. They have only one master, and don't really bother about other people. They have a VERY strong voice, and are very talkative. They simply don't let you ignore them. Some, mostly males, are jealous.
Contrarly to what people say, they are not hypocritical at all, but very straightforward. If they don't like you they show you unambiguously. They won't wreck the house any more than other cats.
A good siamese breeder will guarantee the behavior of his cats, since siamese are bred to be social.
You can also check out the oriental breed, which is a solid-colored siamese with green eyes and a much softer voice.

I have two siamese, One is ten years old and the other will be a year on Christmas day. I also have had other siamese. They are a great cat to have. I have cats my whole life and siamese are the best. I have had mixed breeds cats that were spiteful and mean. The siamese has been given a bad name and I think that is because they don't take to people outside the family. They can be more vocal when they want attention and can sound like a baby. My cats have never wrecked my house either.

I have two wedge head Seal Point 'Meezers and I would not trade them for anything. I have had nothing but Siamese cats for the last 20 years and they are wonderful fur children. The two I have now are liter mates, brother and sister. Siamese tend to bond to one person. I have not found them to be spiteful, but they are full of energy and love to play. My little boy opens lower cabinets and the girl is a jumper. She will jump on your should when your back is turned and if you are not expecting it she will almost knock you over. The boy weighs about 9 lbs and the girl about 6 lbs so they tend to be thin looking bodies. They can be very vocal when they want something. They are not shy about letting you know they want something. Sometimes I just a have a problem understanding 'Meezer so it takes a couple of tries to get it right. They are both very loving little animals with very healthy purrs. Every 'Meezers I have ever had has been a sweet loving little animal that I would not trade for anything.

Siamese Rescue at www.siameserescue.org is a wonderful place to adopt a fur child in need of a good home.

I have a 13 year old Siamese named Koko and he is truly the best cat I've ever had. He is so loving and loyal. He sleeps with me every night (with his head on the pillow and the sheets pulled up to his chest) and he loves being underfoot no matter what Im doing. Reading, watching tv, folding laundry, he's right there with me. It's true that Siamese are wary of strangers, it took Koko a couple of months to warm up to my boyfriend, but he has never been aggressive. He just keeps his distance when people come over. He sniffs shoes whenever anyone first enters my house then he hangs back for awhile formulating his opinion of them. He is very vocal, as most (if not all) Siamese are. He talks back to me when I talk to him. Everyone thinks it's funny that he answers when I call for him. He isn't any more destructive than any other cat, they all go through those random moments of lunacy. He does have a naughty habit of shredding toilet paper and/or paper towels whenever he gets upset, but many other people I know have cats that aren't Siamese that do that. It must be the best way cats know to get revenge. : ) When I no longer have my Koko I know that I'll always have a Siamese in my home. They are such wonderful friends!

All my cats I have ever own have been Siamese…I just like their demeanor…my first cat when I was very young was a Burmese….I have two cats now .. one is not a Siamese she’s a Blue Russian “Sammy” I am not to sure of this breed....compared to my Siamese she a big cry baby and whines for attention and always wants to be with someone…or see what your doing…she just likes to be in your business…..…my other cat is a Seal Point Siamese……”CUJO”…she’s kind of sneaky …she gets Sammy into trouble a lot….but I know the deal....and she only comes around when she wants…..she kind of has a I don’t care attitude about her …only thing is she doesn’t have that distinct meow that most Siamese have ….she barely has a voice…..I have found that the Siamese cats that I have had seemed to be very loyal to one owner….and dont care much for anyone else....my other cat Sammy loves everybody…..I adopted both my cats from shelters…...I think if you are going to get a kitty get one that fits you …..

Oh, they are wonderful!!! They CAN have bad attitudes, but it's not necesarily the norm. They ARE very energetic, and COULD wreck your house easily, but they are generally very good. They are very talkative, so be prepared to converse at least half an hour a day, and listen even longer. They tend to be 1 person cats, latching onto just one person, THEIR person, but they can be a groupn cat. I had a siamese that would rotate laps every 5 minutes to make sure her people never felt neglected.

They are VERY spunky, and don't like to obey even more than other cats, but you've gotta admire them. Once when Sammy my siamese was a kitten, her and her half brother a non siamese were caught on the counter. I picked them up, dumped them off, and started scolding them. Frodo, her brother instantly started mewing, with this pitifully hurt look, begging for forgiveness. When I was done forgiving him and admonishing him to not do it again, I glanced up. There she was, on the table. I think she did it just to laugh at me, because as soon as i saw, she jumped down and ran off.

Siamese are faithful cats if they find a person who truly loves them, and if you get ones devotion, you'll have arrived.

Siamese would not purposely wreck your house, but occasionally the get into an athletic mood and dash through the house, and when they are young can do a bit of damage. When they are mature, they are moe agile and rather unlikely to break anything, but their tendencies to leap a lot build on the somewhat myth that they'll break things, because we as humans can not see them jumping up on a narrow shelf without breaing something- though they do every day.

If you have a small apartment, but have enough time to devote to your cat, Go ahead and get one. However, if you're at work most of the day, it's better you have two. But, if you have a small apartment I would not advise it, because they need plenty of romping room. Also, if you have two, they may bond to eachother more than you. If you have plenty of room, plenty of time, how many you get is entirely up to you.

A word, if possible let the cat choose you, not you choose the cat. You'll be far happier tht way. By letting it choose you, sit with them for awhile, and the one that shows most interest in you has probablypicked you. It helps to have someone else there for the cat to choose between, because you don't want to be chosen for being the only human, do you?

I hope if you do get one, you'll be happy with it. If you re just going for looks, not personality and won't have time to devote to a noisy, energetic cat, get a Birman, the Siamese's longhaired, calmer cousin.

My brother has a black cat that's a Siamese mix. It's very friendly and purrs very loud. He doesn't drool.

Siamese are very friendly cats. They get a long with dogs and other cats quite well. But they do get very lonely. They are a bit curious and if you have fish they will tend to stare at the fish tank all day. They might even get a drink from it's water, but I don't think that they'll eat the fish. Siamese meow and purr loud, but are very tolerable when it comes to children. I've seen babys pull on this bread's tail and it will just sit there. Won't hurt the kid at all! They're a very good breed but you should get a companion for it.

If you have anymore questions about this breed feel free to message me.

I think they are great cats. They don't want as much attention as other breeds of cats. They will let you know when they want love. They do better in pairs because they are so standoffish toward humans. They prefer the company of another cat rather than a human. They are also beautiful creatures. Most are very well behaved. They don't tend to jump on your counters and stuff. They are great pets if you don't want to have to give attention 24 hours a day.

yes i have had several siamese cats ranging from Lilac point (several years ago) to my current Seal point. Honey is not all that bad I have heard the same thing that they are mean and spitful but that is mainly due to spoiling them. Honey is a little spoiled but not much she is very loving and will only allow you to pet her when she feels like being petted (what cat isn't like that?) Temperment really depends on how they are raised.
