If you're in your supervisor's office and you're discussing something, and suddenly he receives a telephone call and picks up, what are you supposed to do?

Should you leave the room so as not to look like you're eavesdropping? Does it depend on the call you think he's receiving (personal vs. professional)? Should you stare at your feet? Or what? Any help would be appreciated!

Actually your supervisor should not take the call. If however, he or she does you will sense quickly what to do. If it seems like a long call signal and leave the office, if it is a short call pertaining to business stay and look out of the window or at a magazine. If it seems to be a personal call leave.

If the supervisor doesn't excuse himself from the call within the first few seconds, quietly get up and leave the room.

The supervisor shouldn't really answer the phone to be correct, however, people get more and more inconsiderate. You should sit there and wait. Unless you get a signal from them to leave.

I guess I would think HE was the one being rude!..I would stay in there and stare at my shoes I guess..Unless he has asked you to leave the room..He should not have picked up the phone..

I would probably ask if I should go using a hand signal. If the boss signals back to stay, I would stay and just look around.

if it concerns you then stay

if it doesnt, give him a signal that you'll be back in a miniute and step out, he may wave you to sit back down

if you dont want to leave then dont look at him and either let ur mind wander or listen in.

You were there first and so he shouldn't answer. If he does, stay there until he tells you to go.
