I got a new kitten and all he does is scratch, and bite. It is something I cant ignore. Whenever I walk by him he grasps my legs with all fours and hangs on it causing my legs to bleed. There is never a day when I dont have scratches all over me. I have put him outside in the cold, isolation in is pet carrier, smacking, and yelling. Nothing works help I dont want to have to give him up.

Have you tried using a water bottle? Generally cats dislike water so maybe spraying him with the bottle when he exhibits this behavior will help! Good Luck!

Very good suggestions: trim nails, get another kitten for playmate, isolation and physical punishment will not work.

Another would be to use an interactive toy with him, such as a feather toy or cat dancer which kittens can't resist. He is brimming with energy and wants to play. Just interrupt what you are doing and take a while to play with him.

It is so much easier to avoid these problems if you get two kittens together. If that is at all possible that will really solve the problem for you. Kittens need playmates and if he is an "only" you are IT.

Don't smack the cat on it's head....or yell. Because it will hurt the ears. Keep your cat indoor...it's dangerous to let it out.
Kittens are like that...it's natural to bite and scratch. They just want to play. I have a kitten as well. What I do is to put it in the cat carrier, and let it calm down. My legs, and arms have alot of scars from biting. Kittens have their teeth change, and they have itch gums. That's why they like to bite. They calm down when they reach 1-year-old. If you cannot handle the kitten I suggest you send it back to ASPAC.

My cat did this very thing when he was a kitten, too. In fact, he used to grab both sides of my neck with his claws and bite my throat! But, as he got older, he outgrew *most* of that behavior. Getting him fixed did seem to help calm him down a little, even though a lot of vets will tell you it won't. To this day he still has times when his brain just "short-circuits" and he attacks, but keeping his claws trimmed helps us avoid major injury, and it doesn't happen very often. Just try to be patient with him for now, and he'll get better as he ages. Please don't hit him or isolate him-- it will only make him worse, and he's likely just trying to play with you as he would with his siblings. If all else fails, try getting another kitten and see if that helps to divert his attention from you.

Kittens tend to do this. The more you handle them, the more socialized they will become. The squirt bottle is a good idea.

He may calm down once he is neutered.

If he continues to do this you may need to either make him an outside cat or give him up. Be patient though.

Another solution is to get a second kitten so they can wrestle with each other.

Isolation/putting him outside, etc won't work.
Your cat does not trust you, and punishing him won't work -- it is likely that he was in an abusive household before you got him.
I would suggest spending "quite time" in a room with him -- you reading a book, and him just hanging out. If he claws you, give him a quick single aquirt with a water bottle. Don't spray him 10 times, don't hit him... He has to get used to being around you. If you've already been slapping him around in response to earlier behavior, it might be too late, and you will have to get rid of him.

well smacking the kittie with make em more aggressive. Water bottles do tend to help alot. Most cats out grow that behavior.....Make sure you give alot of affection...but never pet the kittie when he/she bites or scratches you..it will encourage the behavior.

Mine two kittens did this too. I asked the vet and he said to use a water bottle, so every time they bite you, they will assiciate it with getting sprayed, so they wont want to. Also, he said to do someting loud like a hand clap and say NO really loud. Only when they are bad, they will only associate it with bad things then.

Please don't use negative reinforcement, it will only cause him to dislike you. He is just being a kitten and wanting to play with you. A water bottle is a very good tool, and you should also trim his nails so that he is not drawing blood. (Just make sure not to cut into the pink part- the quick- it is his vein and will hurt him a lot!)

Just take him to the vet and have him declawed or whatever they call it (sorry i don't have a cat) or try buying him a scratching post and see if that helps
